In ArcGIS Desktop 10.5 (ArcCatalog or ArcMap) I get the following error when attempting to add a feature class to a map from an Oracle 11g (11.2.0.4) Enterprise Geodatabase (10.2.1) which I have been granted select permission through a role: Error opening feature class Insufficient permissions [insufficient permissions[OWNER.TABLE_NAME]] And then immediately after it another error pops up: Could not add the specified data object to the map. Insufficient permissions [insufficient permissions[OWNER.TABLE_NAME]] Sometimes the "Insufficient permissions" line is repeated 2 or 3 times. Right clicking on a layer and doing Properties gives an error that only includes the "Insufficient permissions" line the first time. Trying it again does nothing (no error message). In ArcCatalog If I modify the permissions (through a separate connection as admin) in any way while my user connection is open then I am able to access all layers granted through roles. If I disconnect and reconnect then the error returns. I can't reproduce this in ArcMap, only Catalog. If I am granted permission on the layer directly to my user account (not through the role) then I can access it. If I have been granted the SELECT ANY TABLE system privilege then I am able to access all layers. The role is a default role for my account. The error only occurs on feature classes, plain tables work fine. I only get the error when connecting directly to the geodatabase, going through the ArcSDE Server 10.2.1 works correctly. I do not get this error using ArcMap 10.4 or lower. The same problem occurs when trying access the layer with arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management: ExecuteError: Failed to execute. Parameters are not valid. ERROR 000732: Input Features: Dataset C:/db_connection.sde/OWNER.TABLE_NAME does not exist or is not supported Failed to execute (MakeFeatureLayer)

Can you please provide an update on this? Can the ArcGIS Online / Collector documentation please be updated to explain this? I think I've got the same problem, two copies of the same feature service added to a map, one of the layers has a filter. Both of the layers work correctly in Collector when online, however when taking the map offline the unfiltered layer does not work.

I've also got this problem, I want to delete a hosted feature service but I don't know which maps are using it. The ago-tools python library has a sample script to do this: findItemsContainingUrl.py ago-tools/findItemsContainingUrl.py at master · Esri/ago-tools · GitHub I noticed that the GEO Jobe Admin Tools Pro has this feature: Now View Item Dependencies in ArcGIS Online with Admin Tools It would be awesome if the 'Usage' tab on a hosted feature service also shows which maps are using it. It currently only shows the number of 'Requests' have accessed the service, but it would be great if it showed exactly where the requests came from.

Is there a way to implement 'Continuous Zoom' the ArcGIS Online map viewer while using the default basemaps? For the data on my map I need to be able to view it at about half way between two zoom levels, the steps between the levels are too large. I noticed in Google Maps zooming using the mouse wheel increments the zoom level by 0.25, this feels about right. Doing this in ArcGIS Desktop is simple with the Continious Zoom tool or by holding 'B'. The only way I've found of doing this on ArcGIS Online is by using a MapService as a basemap then zoom by holding the Shift key. Why do ArcGIS Online maps require a basemap at all? What if I don't want one? Is there an empty/blank MapService I can use to work around this? After adding a MapService as a basemap it allows continuous zoom to work, even after I replace it with a normal tiled basemap. However the continuous zoom stops working after refreshing the page

Looks like Python code written by Esri uses underscores, for example look in: C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.4\arcpy\arcpy\sa\Functions.py However many of the examples written by Esri in the arcpy reference use camelCase, but I've seen instances where they are inconsistent. Python style guide says lower_with_under PEP 8 -- Style Guide for Python Code | Python.org Google style guide says lower_with_under Google Python Style Guide

The Service Definition items stored in our ArcGIS Online organisation appear to be consuming the Database Storage credits, not File Storage, so the credit charges are becoming significant.

Thank you for the update This bug is currently causing me trouble in ArcGIS 10.2 and Oracle 11g, I'm trying to get a python script automate the exporting of records from dynamically generated query layers. I can't seem to get it to function exactly the same as the manual process of doing 'File / Add Data / Add Query Layer' then right click 'Export' . For now I just add an Oracle ROWNUM as the first column in the query to generate an OID. To make it work I needed to cast it to a Number(10) otherwise ArcGIS thinks it is a Double and won't use it. "select cast(rownum as number(10)) as objectid, * from ..."
