@MichaelBranscomb My use case is slightly different. I'd like to be able to open a dwg file and interrogate it for certain objects (north arrow, scale bar, layer types, etc). I've searched through the help documentation for both 10.2.x and 100.x, and have been able to find any reference. I might have to resort to writing some arcobjects 🙂

Morten Nielsen I am having the same issue. In Runtime 10.2.x, if my map service has a limit of 1,000 features, that 1k will be returned, but when it has a max return record count of 50k, I get back zero results. I now decided to test against 100.4, and I get the same exception mentioned above. The size of the shape does not seem to be the problem. My original shape has 900+ rings and this fails. When I attempt an overlap with the extent of this complex shape, I get back results the 50k max. I am happy to share the service I am testing against, as well as the geometry in question, but this will need to be in a private forum due to it being sensitive data.

Hi, I think the OP raises a valid point. When Esri dropped support for ArcObjects in IIS, many of us were left out in the cold. To transfer all the business logic to an SOE makes our applications very chatty. The runtime has the ability to fill most of that void, with only a minimal set of functionality needed to be implemented through and SOE.

We've needed to do that same, having 3 code streams. A way around this is to do the following: Change the SOE Project name Change the ServerObjectExtension display name in the main class, the class name, as well as the GUID Change the AddInPackage name and GUID We successfully using the same SOE, with subtle differences, having changed the details aboe.

Did you ever figure out what caused the problem, and how to fix it? I am experiencing the same issue now

I'm using the Caro Library to open the mxd, zoom to an extent, then check the ActiveView's scale so that I can make a decision on how to change the scale. The zooming to extent works as expected, but when I try to access the FocusMap's MapScale, I get the following exception: An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in FlexiCadastreSOE.dll Additional information: The data necessary to complete this operation is not yet available. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000000A) After updating the ActiveView's extent, I call refresh on the ActiveView. I also make sure before and after, that the ActiveView is Activated. Any clue what I need to execute such that the ActiveView is ready to have it's scale checked? I saved the mxd, close it, and reopen, but the problem persists. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, runtime does not offer this functionality. I achieved this by writing an SOE and deploying to my ArcGIS Server that would do this for me.

If you have access to an ArcGIS for Server, write an SOE to process the file and send the information back to your web app

Try using ArcGIS for Server's Geometry Service's project end point. You have more control with it as it allows you to specify the geotransformation parameters rather than depending on the runtime to select some default for you. Alternatively, you can use the service without the datum transformation and direction parameters, and it would assume these for you (although I've always supplied them when i know a transformation is required)

Does the same reboxing theory hold for projecting geometries from a projected cs to a geographic cs (e.g. ITRF_2005_Rwanda to GCS ITRF 2005). In other words, densification takes place?

I am trying to upload an mxd document through ArcGIS for Server's upload REST end point (http://SERVERNAME/arcgis/admin/uploads/upload), and the response is that Items with that extension is not supported. I did some reading, and came across the system properties that allows you to override the default file extension white list. After using the end point to update the property/properties (http://SERVERNAME/arcgis/admin/system/properties/update) with the following json { "uploadFileExtensionWhitelist": "soe,sd,prj, sde, odc, csv, txt, zshp, kmz, mxd", "uploadItemInfoFileExtensionWhitelist": "xml, img, png, gif, jpg, jpeg, bmp, mxd, prj, soe" } I attempted the same with a prj file, which failed as well. What is strange is that I can upload a zip file with no issues, even though it does not appear in the white list I restarted the server, with no success. Any idea what is going wrong with AGS?

Hi Antti, Thank you for your reply, Unfortunately, that is not possible, as I need to make use of the geotransformation functionality exposed by the Geometry Service's project REST end point. Any other suggestions?

HI there, I know that this question was about a solution for WPF. Do you have a solution for ArcGIS Runtime for .Net? I've tried using the geoprocessor class to achieve this, and while I am able to successfully submit a job (tried SubmitJobAsync and ExecuteAsync), with no expected response in both options (objGPExecuteResult.Outmessages and objGPExecuteResult.Messages remains nothing, or objGPJobInfo.JobStatus remains "new")
