Hi Randall, I have a question regarding updating the self-signed certificate for the GIS tier. I have a single machine deployment of ArcGIS Enterprise where the web tier utilizes a CA certificate, and the GIS tier uses a self-signed cert. However, my self-signed certificate used initially during setup is expired. This is causing issues when I attempt to use WAB developer edition. Therefore, I am needing to create a new self-signed cert and want to make sure that Portal and Server remain federated, and that my existing services are not affected, as I am currently hosting our public web apps on the server. The CA cert and public domain are under a DNS alias, (gis.cityname.com) while the self-signed certificate is issued by the machine name and location on our network, (machinenumber.citynetwork.cityname.com.) My question is, since I have a DNS alias listed already, would the best option be to create a new self-signed certificate using the same issuer,(machinenumber.citynetwork.cityname.com) as last time? Also, once I do this and point the deployment to use the new certificate, my current services should carry over and remain in working order since they are published under the gis.cityname.com alias correct? Thank you, Steven

Robert, Thank you for the quick reply. Yes I have. I tried all suggested solutions regarding using a map service layer, but to no avail. I am now trying to configure the widget with a geocoder, which is not mentioned in the link above. Thanks, Steven

Hi Robert, I am also experiencing having no layers to select while in the "Address Layers" portion of the widget configuration. I gave up trying to use a map service layer and published a geocoder using our local data that is registered with the server. I added the geocoder URL to my organization's geocoders, but I still am not able to select layers in the "Address Layers" portion. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steven

Thank you for this Michael! I was spoke with a co-worker yesterday and they thought this could be the issue as well. I let our IT know about the issue so they can double check the security parameters before I open a support case.

Robert, Thank you for the idea, but I don't believe so. I made sure they opened a new .mxd and only imported the layer they were trying to edit, and they still got the same error. I have had that happen to myself in the past though when working on a grid index! It's always a frustrating few minutes until you realize the wrong data frame is active.

Hi Dana, We have two advanced concurrent use licenses for our department so I don't think that is the issue. I'm about out of ideas as to what the issue could be. I went back and made sure their permissions were correct on the server, and every other thread I'm seeing about this is dealing with enterprise databases.

Thanks for the reply Nina. They went into Arcmap and tried this out, but they still got the same error as before. I've seen that granting privileges on the database could be the issue as well? I've never heard of this on a file geodatabase, so i'm assuming this only applies to SDE databases? Thanks, Steven

Hi Nina, Yes they have write access on the server location. As far as editing goes, they are trying to edit the feature class within the main file geodatabase. I read that the feature class that is to be edited should have editor tracking enabled, and be registered as versioned. Is this true? If so could that be the issue? I haven't done either of these since I had no issues editing the feature class previously. Thanks, Steven

I have a file geodatabase with feature classes created from shapefiles that serves as the main gdb for our web GIS. The gdb is registered with and stored on the server (single machine deployment). I am able to edit the data without any issues. However, when my co-worker tries to start editing receives the error "No editable layers." for the gdb as a whole, and the error 'Could not edit the data in the folder or database you selected." for individual feature classes in the gdb. I've checked and he has the proper permissions to be able to edit the gdb, and I've also made sure that no one else was accessing any feature class in the gdb when they went to start editing. In spite of this, they still get the same errors. Could it have something to do with the versioning? I also don't think it's because the gdb feature classes are referenced on the web GIS since I'm able to edit without issues. Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this? Thanks, Steven

Hi Robert, I looked in the network tab, and did not see any 4xx errors, but I did notice something that may be confirmation enough to know that it's a proxy issue. I noticed I was getting a "Cross-Origin-Request Blocked" for the few basemaps I have that reference tiles hosted on "https://basemaps.arcgis.com/v1/arcgis/rest/services". I also found That the portal is supposed to act as the proxy server when needed. However, in my Portal Admin Security Configuration, I do not have any "allowedproxyhosts": listed. Also, in the config.json file for the app, the "authorizedcrosOriginDomains": line is blank as well. What would be my best course of action? Inserting [https://basemaps.arcgis.com] into the "authorizedCrossOriginDomains": line in the config.json file? Thanks, Steven

Hi Rebecca, I have a single machine deployment of Enterprise where Server and Portal are federated. Anonymous access is enabled in the Portal, and all feature layers, basemaps, printing/geocoding tools, and both the web map (created in Portal) and web app( created in WAB Dev, downloaded and uploaded to web server) are public as well. I added the app to Portal by connecting to the app in my content. Yet, when opening the app, I still get prompted to login to Portal. I want to make this map available to the public and am at a loss as to the correct path to take. I've read conflicting cases of setting up a proxy being the correct action to take, or not applicable when Portal and Server are federated. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steven

Hello, I have a web app that I created using WAB Dev. I am on a single machine deployment of Enterprise installed using the Enterprise Builder where Server and Portal are federated. After configuring the app, I downloaded the zipped app file, unzipped it into the www folder on the web server and added the application in IIS, added the app to Portal, and then put the app id into the config.json file of the app. Even though EVERY feature layer, basemap layer, the web map itself, and the web app are shared to everyone, and the organization allows for anonymous access, I still get prompted for a login. I have a few ideas of what it could be, but I'm at a loss here because this hasn't happened before. 1) I have two or three widgets (coordinate conversion, share, and about) on the app that I did not have prior to using the WAB Dev edition. The organization doesn't have an arcgis online account, so if any of those widgets are considered 'premium' that may be the issue. 2.) I did not add a proxy to the proxy property in the config.json file, as the Esri Support Analyst I spoke to said it wasn't necessary because of my current configuration. I also haven't registered the app yet. The test app I made using WAB Dev did not require a login to view, despite not being registered or having the proxy. However, it was much simpler than the current app I am working on. Here is the code for the Proxy Property in the config.json file: "wabVersion": "2.8", "isTemplateApp": true, "isWebTier": false, "httpProxy": { "useProxy": true, "alwaysUseProxy": false, "url": "", "rules": [] 3) I have pictures in the about widget, and a picture in the app of the organization logo. When I created a web app previously using the Portal Webapp Builder, I never had issues making the application public even though I had the organizational picture in the app. Do I need to upload every picture in my app to the server/portal? 4) I have a few basemaps that are from Esri. I really don't think this is the reason though, as I have never had this problem when using them previously. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am truly at a loss.

Robert, It's very strange. After clearing history, cookies, etc. on both Chrome and Firefox, I still get the errors on Chrome. However, it seems to be working fine on Firefox. On Chrome I get an error: "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404" which is a woff file comes from this directory in the app: \jimu.js\css\fonts. I also get an error: "Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID" that references the web map service used in the app and ends with =json&callback=dojo_request_script_callbacks.dojo_request_script0 /jimu.js/MapManager.js?wab_dv=2.8. The last one I get is: Error: "Error loading https://serverdomain.com/portal/sharing/rest/content/items/abcdefg?f=json&callback=dojo_request_script_callbacks.dojo_request_script0 at MessagePort.e (js.arcgis.com/3.24/init.js:1046) (anonymous) @ MapManager.js?wab_dv=2.8" where the last part starting at (anonymous) has a link that takes me to the sources tab of the dev tools, and shows the following: _createWebMapRaw: function(webMapPortalUrl, webMapItemId, mapDivId, webMapOptions){ var mapDef = jimuUtils.createWebMap(webMapPortalUrl, webMapItemId, mapDivId, webMapOptions); return mapDef.then(lang.hitch(this, function(response){ return response; }), lang.hitch(this, function(error){ console.error(error); if(error && error instanceof Error && error.message){ var cache = i18n.cache; var key = "esri/nls/jsapi/" + dojoConfig.locale; Thanks again for all your help, I greatly appreciate it. Robert, Sorry to bother you again. I have a question about re-deploying an app to web server after updating. I added a layer to the web map that is in the web app using Portal, updated a few widgets using the WAB Dev, and downloaded the updated zipped file. After unzipping the file, I overwrote the existing web app on the web server with the updated folders. I shouldn't have attempted to overwrite the entire app, but nonetheless after the app folders were overwritten and I refreshed the application in IIS, the app will no longer display in the browser and I get multiple errors in the Developer tools. Is this not the proper way to re-deploy an updated app on the web server? The updated app and its folders are the same, so I assumed this would be the proper way to get the server to reference the updated app. Thanks, Steven
