Hi Karl, Yes, I did resolve this problem... the NLCD (2006) has a colormap and reclassify will not work if the raster has a colormap. I believe if you export the raster and check the "Use Renderer" box, you will get a raster layer with no colormap that can be reclassified. Hope this works for you!

The "convert to graphics" option doesn't seem to be working for me. The "selected graphics" button is still grayed out, and the polygon layer is selected. Any ideas?

I have searched high and low and I cannot find a Great Lakes polygon shapefile anywhere. All I have found available online are the polyline boundaries of the lakes and they are too complex to be converted to a polygon. I can't seem to download them from the USGS Seamless Viewer. I tried to extract them from the template maps provided in ArcMap but I can't seem to do that, either. Does anyone have any idea where I might find these shapefiles? I appreciate any assistance!

Hello, I am attempting to apply a multiple ring buffer to a streams layer I created using Arc Hydro Tools 2.0. It will not execute over large or small areas and provides the following error message: Executing: MultipleRingBuffer south_streams C:\Users\siu850727638\Documents\GIS_files\hydro_by_state\merging\south\south_streamsMRB.shp 1;5 Kilometers distance ALL FULL Start Time: Sat May 26 02:11:21 2012 Running script MultipleRingBuffer... ERROR 999999: Error executing function. Invalid Topology [Topoengine error.] Failed to execute (Union). Completed script MultipleRingBuffer... Failed to execute (MultipleRingBuffer). Failed at Sat May 26 02:34:54 2012 (Elapsed Time: 23 minutes 33 seconds) I attempted to repair the layer using the "Repair Geometry" tool and "Multipart to Singlepart" tool, but those did not work--as far as I can tell there are no errors in the geometry. I kept the DISSOLVE ALL option checked because I have not found a way to create the multiple ring buffer lines any other way that worked. I have Service Pack 4 installed. Any ideas? Thank you!

I just attempted to create two individual buffers and the use the Union tool to put them together. I was able to create the two buffers without a problem but then Union failed. Thanks so much for your response. Yes, I tried running Multiple Ring Buffer again without the 'Dissolve All' option checked and the process did execute, but there is still a problem. Although the output layer shows two buffer distances (.25 and .5), in the attribute table there is only one distance listed (.5). So I don't think I can use the 'Dissolve' tool to fix my problem because I do not have a field to base the process on. I have attached a photo of the attribute table and screen... any ideas of what to do?

I am trying to create a multiple ring buffer for roads over an 18-state region. Every time I attempt to execute this process, it fails and gives the following error message: Executing: MultipleRingBuffer study_area_roads C:\Users\siu850727638\Documents\GIS_files\tiger_data\study_area_roads\study_area_roadsMRB.shp 0.25;0.5 Kilometers distance ALL FULL Start Time: Mon Apr 23 01:16:54 2012 Running script MultipleRingBuffer... Failed at Mon Apr 23 02:03:25 2012 (Elapsed Time: 46 minutes 31 seconds) I have attached a picture of the error box and area I'm working with too. Any ideas of what's going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I run "reclassify," I always get extra classes that I don't want. I am making sure to include the max and min values of the raster when I reclassify. What's going on here?

The problem is happening both on a personal laptop running ArcGIS 10 (Student Edition) and on lab computers running ArcGIS 9.3, though the error is different. On the lab computers, the error that pops up says "can't be saved to output format GRID" although I have always attempted to save it as a .img file (no spaces or capital letters in the filename).

Hi Jeff, Thanks for the advice. The output is local; I saved it as a .img with no spaces or special characters... still the same error immediately. I would create a Support Incident but I am not sure how to come up with my customer number... I am a graduate student at a university and that is how I use ArcGIS.

How do I add the classified renderer to ArcMap? I went to Properties > Symbology and clicked "Classified," but I was not prompted to generate a histogram. Is the classified renderer something I specifically need to add? Thank you for all the help thus far.

Robert--I tried what you suggested and it gives the same error. Steve--the raster does have statistics. It is the National Land Cover Dataset (2006), which I clipped and reprojected. Any other ideas? Thanks for the suggestions thus far!
