Thanks for the information. Yes, I am using the featured gallery cards. I am creating cards for links to state and county level data and I had hoped to have different size logos for different levels of government-- that was my thinking. I understand what you are saying about the responsiveness, I did not think of that. Thanks for the resource links-- I looked at a lot of it but still not exactly what I want (but that may not be the best decision anyway)

Hi Klara Schmitt, I saw your code snippets on how to use cards on your open data page (Tips: Create Custom Cards with HTML ). I wanted to create some cards of different sizes on my open data page and cannot seem to find a way to override the default height/width of the card since it is configured in the <style> in my initial cards. Is there a way to override this? I tried to add some height= and width= code in the thumbnail tag <div class="col-sm-12 thumbnail text-center"> but nothing I try works. I can take out the thumbnail background but want to be consistent with how I show my cards elsewhere. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi KGerrow-esristaff While not totally related, the order of features drawn on the web map affects how they are displaying when using a time slider- and this is misleading when trying to show changes by attributes. For example, my web map has a feature layer w/ 4 features per location since that is how many records were in my related table-- my published feature class essentially quadruples in size as my map service since each related record creates a separate feature in the service. I put this layer into a web map and enable the time slider-- and the display of features is different than what is shown in the time slider in ArcMap. For example, a red point for a graduated symbol = 100% (example) may not show correctly for a given time period because that same feature has a different graduated symbol (blue, 50%) for a different temporal period. So I think the slider is working but correctly but the correct features are not displaying in the web map because there is no respect of draw order....my working theory anyway. To test my theory, I filtered the records per attribute (time period) to see if my suspicion is right....and yes, it seems to matter. if I filter by a certain time period (AM for example), my time slider looks correct as in ArcMap and shows only those features with the but only for that temporal period. And if I also look at popup order.....its all over the place so presumably ArcGIS Online does not use any sort of draw/popup order. So is display order to blame? How can you ensure that the correct features for your temporal data display at the correct time? Its too farfetched to think that showing traffic patterns by time of day (example- more cars in AM, more trucks in PM, in the same count locations) should be a problem or super hard to visualize. What am I missing? Or, is this another inconsistency between Desktop and Online? I am struggling to find a solution and this is as far as I have come, even with support cases. What choices do I have besides butchering my data merely to visualize? thanks-

I am hosting my story map tour on my server so I am configuring the Index.html to make some changes to the look and feel of the app. For sharing customization, I am using the following article as a guide https://developerscorner.storymaps.arcgis.com/grow-your-story-maps-audience-with-open-graph-tags-b7639cb65d5c I have been able to alter the meta tags under the 'Facebook Sharing' section-- but when I add code for Twitter cards, my code seems to be ignored. when I look at my code in the Twitter card validator, my changes are applied but not when I click the Twitter share icon in my app. This is what I added to the index.html <!-- Facebook sharing --> <meta property="og:type" content="article"/> <meta property="og:title" content="TITLE"/> <meta property="og:description" content="description"/> <meta property="og:image" content="custom_logo.png"/> <meta property="og:image:width" content="100" /> <meta property="og:image:height" content="50" /> <!-- Twitter Sharing --> <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary" /> <meta property="og:url" content="https://myurl.org" /> <meta property="og:title" content="TITLE" /> <meta property="og:description" content="description here" /> <meta property="og:image" content="custom_logo.png" /> Is there any other place I have to modify code to get the Twitter changes to apply? My custom Facebook is also in the index.html so I am unsure why one works and the other does not.

Its not the preferred way to do it, but we use individual content items at the sublayer level so we can control the metadata that is listed for each. for example, we have a service called 'road networks' and there are 3 different types- so we'd like individual metadata. By creating 3 separate content items we can achieve that (but you have to alter the URL after you create the item) Hope this helps-

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping someone on the board had done this for Shortlist already. The blog post is helpful and I followed those instructions. But since the elements differ between apps I am having trouble finding the ones I want to change. I am not a developer so unless the names are obvious when I poke around in the code I do not know which to change. I got one (subtitle) to change and that's about it. I now have to weigh the cost/benefit of attempting to figure out how to find which elements do what with actually delivering the app to my user w/as many as his asks I can do w/my (limited dev) skills And sorta related... any chance the app will get out its beta status that is going on years now? Or is it more likely this will get replaced by something bigger and deffer? I know map tour and shortlist are similar - would be great to have an app that could utilize either layout (tab or filmstrip) but for now, my user wants tabs so here I am. Thanks again-

I would like to apply some font changes to my Shortlist app template- I have seen blog posts on how to change fonts in other apps https://developerscorner.storymaps.arcgis.com/jazz-up-your-story-maps-with-google-fonts-65f4cefb38f8 Story Maps Developers' Corner: Customizing the ... | GeoNet ...and an old reference to customizing the shortlist banner (Customizing the Shortlist Story Map banner | ArcGIS Blog ) but this article seems out of date with the new app template where you can insert custom CSS rules in the index.html. How would I apply a Google font to the current Shortlist template? Or just apply a consistent font in the app? I downloaded the code from Github and am hosting on my own server. I downloaded the 'downloadable' one and not the entire source code. Thanks

It does not seem to be limited to 10.5- I am using Server 10.4 and there is an issue with using Chrome as my Server Manager browser. It also seems to be something new as I had not had problems until recently....or maybe I was just lucky before. At any rate, thanks for the browser switch suggestion!

Is there a way I can make my input database connection and the output folder a parameter in a model? So far, I tried modifying the script to have tbl = arcpy.GetParameter(0) and then define my parameter in a model, but ArcMap keeps crashing....so I do not think I am modifying the script correctly or choosing the right kind of parameter (its an SDE table). The script I am using is the same as was provided previously. I would like to share this model with folks using our Collector app so they can download the photos taken out in the field. and it would be easier to give a model than modify the script each time. thanks-

I have similar data- points that have 4 related records for each representing different time periods. I set up my relationship class but since there is a record for each point all the time, I cannot tell if the relationship is cascading through the features since the symbology is still tied to the feature class (which has the feature names) and the related values should really be what is being displayed (the values in the related records) so you can tell things are changing. I understand the concept but cannot visualize the data to show that some points get bigger/change color/whatever type of distinction depending on the time of day/related record being accessed. How can you see what is happening?

Is there any plan to change how date/time fields are handled in Open Data? I know they are converted to string and I know that I have been told to create an equivalent text field so I can preserve the 'nice' looking date and time fields. But adding up to 3 extra fields to my data just to make it a user-friendly download is going to add some file size to tables that have millions of records. It adds a burden to users who download the data easily from your site to them have to manipulate fields back to a usable state if they want to do temporal analysis. I am looking for some guidance and best practices/instructions I can pass along to users who download our data so its not as misleading. The date field shows up great on the table preview but anything with time only gets changed to 12/30/1899 and anything with date and time gets changed to show only date. I know this is an issue throughout ArcGIS Online but all these 'big data' are often temporal in nature so it would be nice to have a more straightforward way to share than to create false fields just to make it look nice. Hopefully I am just missing something. thanks

How long should we expect to wait before unwanted/phantom datasets go away on their own? I have a couple more today even though I have unshared from open data. I know the index gets updated routinely but it may not be often enough based on all of the manual intervention your team has to do. And using the index buttons on the management page does not seem to do anything than generate a message that something is happening (but no moving icons as in the past). thanks-

those are the right ones-- i see duplicate content for the same layers under the 'TAZ' service which does not exist anymore. the link to the metadata item is https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=48c3d9d7524c4f4faeb4ca446cfb2684 but that does not exist anymore . cleared browser again just to make sure
