Is there a way to change the surface filter defaults to alter how they display? Specifically, the elevation filter, and as can be done with the hillshade tool, I'd like to change the azimuth and altitude - the LAS dataset tool *appears* to be displaying the elevation surface with a 315 degree azimuth and 45 degree altitude (the default values for creating hillshade). Thank you. Susan

Hi there, Thank you for the replies! I'm curious about your "easier" solution - I am using a custom coordinate (simply called Local Cartesian Coordinate System) with the following parameters, and the units are in feet: Local Cartesian Coordinate System Authority: Custom Projection: Local False_Easting: 0.0 False_Northing: 0.0 Scale_Factor: 1.0 Azimuth: 45.0 Longitude_Of_Center: -75.0 Latitude_Of_Center: 40.0 Linear Unit: Foot (0.3048) Geographic Coordinate System: GCS_WGS_1984 Angular Unit: Degree (0.0174532925199433) Prime Meridian: Greenwich (0.0) Datum: D_WGS_1984 Spheroid: WGS_1984 Semimajor Axis: 6378137.0 Semiminor Axis: 6356752.314245179 Inverse Flattening: 298.257223563

I have a point feature class in which each point represents the NE (Upper Left) corner of a 5' x 5' excavation unit across an archaeological site (the units are not contiguous). I would like to generate a polygon feature of the 5' x 5' units (in other words, create the other 3 corners - LL, LR and UR and connect them with a closed line and convert to a polygon - (or directly create a polygon feature class if that's possible). Are there existing tools that I can use to do this, or a script that can be modified? I am not a programmer ;-(...I am using ArcGIS Desktop with an Advanced license. Thanks so much! Susan

Hi Drew, I am also experiencing the same problem as Daniel above: "I am encountering the same issue: When I add a photo with an embedded geolocation, the ArcMap 10.1 "Geotagged photos to Points" script does not create a point for the photo. The geoprocessing results window states that the tool has run and a feature class has been created. However, when I click on a row in the attribute table (where the photo name does appear), it zooms to an incorrect region of the world. In addition, no visible point has been created. I have replicated this problem with several different photographs, which were all processed using a standard graphics program. I thought that perhaps the graphics program had stripped the geolocation from the photo, but looking at the EXIF data, the spatial location is still there." Is this also a possibly bug? thank you, Susan

Hi, I'm in the process of revising a StoryMap Journal for my organization, and have been taking great care not to use more characters/text that would fill more than a single side panel in one section (1 map view, 1 side panel, 1 section). I thought I had it down, and the results for the first several panels were aesthetically pleasing (at least to me). However, the last section I've added to this draft StoryMap Journal had the least amount of text, and instead of the text "sliding" to the top of the panel, it only comes to the middle of the page [link to storymap journal here]: http://bit.ly/116JMK4 Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions - thank you! Susan

Rebecca and Rupert - a quick update: one of the the tools you suggested in GitHub [ago-assistant] worked beautifully and simply - within seconds - to copy content from my personal account to my organization's account, and have received access and publishing privileges to the organizational account...now operating completely on the up and up. Thank you again for your responses. Best, Susan

Yes it is, in fact, in the same album as all the other photos that I'm using for the MapJournal which are displaying without a problem - thanks!

Is it possible to define "main stage actions" in which by clicking on a particular location in the main stage map will automatically scroll to that particular location's text in the side panel? (I know the reverse is possible and easy to do). Thank you again!

Hi, The logo I'd like to use (housed on Flickr) is showing up only as a broken link, even after re-sizing the logo to smaller than then the recommended size - is this a known issue, or if not, any ideas on how to resolve the problem? Thank you! Susan

Thank you, Rebecca and Rupert! Yes, for the sake of expediency, I developed a map journal using my personal account to produce an interactive demo map within a day or so of the request from my "higher-ups" without going through the lengthy process of asking for space, getting access, etc. I have since learned we do have an enterprise account and the IT staff is working on setting that up so what's been done already can be imported, and hosted through one of our own web servers - again, thank you very much for your responses!
