Hi Mike, Thanks for giving this a bump. Indeed, you're right, you CAN use Google cloud for deploying ArcGIS Enterprise. Just for fun I did it myself and had no issues, although I used Windows server instances. At the latest Esri Federal GIS conference I asked the Esri cloud folks if there were any limitations to using the Google cloud platform. They said "no limits" and they focus on AWS/Azure because that's what customers are asking for. Cheers, Tim

Hi, I asked this question on the Cloud Computing "Place" but got no responses. Trying a different approach to reach a wider audience. I see that Esri has machine images for cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. What about Google Cloud? I see that Windows and Red Hat Linux servers can be provisioned on the Google Cloud. Has anyone implemented ArcGIS Enterprise on the Google Compute Engine? Doing a search here on GeoNet and on Google reveals little to no evidence of it. Thanks! Tim

Months later and no response ... safe to assume nobody has deployed ArcGIS Server/Portal on the Google cloud? Is it not possible? Or nobody bothers because there are plenty of resources for Azure/AWS?

Hi, When I'm using the identify tool on floating point raster data (it's a tif file), how can I change the number of decimal places of the pixel value returned by the tool? In the attached screen shot I have six decimal places showing. How might I make that, say, four decimal places showing (without truncating the actual data). I can see how I might do this for feature layers that have an attribute table, but a floating point raster has no table so no joy there. Thanks, Tim

Are there any ways of determining how many users are logged in to my AGOL organization? If we need to do maintenance of our organization I want to know who is currently logged in so I can make sure they save their work before disabling their account. Thanks! Tim

Thanks for checking on this Mike. Yes we have been using AGOL for a couple of years now and because we didn't have an identity provider until recently, we have used the default invite process to create non-enterprise accounts, which bases the AGOL account names on the user's email username appended with "_" and our org name. Now to be more secure and to simplify our account management we would like to go to enterprise logins. I will check with our ID provider to see if they can change the NameID for just our ArcGIS Online org. If this is possible, then I think we could write a script using the REST API to periodically check for new enterprise logins, migrate the old content to the new account, deactivate the old account, and notify the user when the process is complete. At some point we would delete the old accounts. Of course it would be great if the enterprise login process could recognize that a matching account exists within the organization and work some magic to change it from a "local account" to an "enterprise account." I suppose if accounts weren't named properly to begin with you could have mix-ups (like mike.brown vs michael.brown), so there would have to be either an admin sign off on the process or the user would have to enter their old account credentials. May be simpler just to bite the bullet and migrate to new account names. Tim

Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply and for offering to submit this as an enhancement. I would think this is a pretty common occurrence since the default AGOL organizational account naming convention uses the username of the new user's email address, and that username is typically an organization's enterprise login username. One clarification: if an enterprise AGOL account name already exists, will the login fail, or will AGOL create a unique username using the patten <NameID>_<OrgID>? For example, if tim.haverland_noaa exists AGOL will create an account name like tim.haverland9_noaa? This has important implications for how we plan for a migration to enterprise logins. Tim

Hi David, we are in this exact same situation, having named all of our accounts with the <NameID>_<org_ID> convention (which is the default behavior when creating new accounts manually). Have you learned anything new about how these existing accounts are handled in the enterprise login process? Tim

I FIGURED OUT WHY IT'S NOT WORKING!!!! When running MakeQueryLayer_management from the python command window and your query only returns non-spatial columns, you must turn off the "Enable Background Processing" option: 1) From the Geoprocessing menu, choose Geoprocessing Options... 2) Under the "Background Processing" section, uncheck "Enable" I'd consider this a bug ... if you have background processing enabled, and you run MakeQueryLayer_management from the python command window using a query that returns a spatial column, a layer is added to your map document. But, if your query does not return a spatial column, the resulting table does not get added to your map document and there's no way to add it through python or via the results window. Thanks for everyone who helped me get to this point!:cool:

Tim, Why are you not using the MakeQueryTable_management?
LOCATIONS_T = "Database Connections\\SDE DATABASE.sde\\USERNAME.LOCATION_T"
arcpy.MakeQueryTable_management(LOCATION_T, "QueryTable", "USE_KEY_FIELDS", "", "", "Job_Key = " + str(Job_Key))
This brings the queried table in to my project. Hi Scott, I really want to use the MakeQueryLayer because it allows any SQL statement to be issued (including complex joins, grouping, stored function calls, etc). Right now I'm just trying a straight select statement to see if I can get this working.

Tim, I cannot reproduce this behavior on my machine, what version of ArcGIS (including service packs) are you using? I'm running 10.1 ... no service packs are available as far as I know. I have submitted a tech support request on this (incident 1081341). The analyst on that incident can't reproduce either. I've tried this on both Oracle 11g and PostGIS 9.2 with the same results (table not added and no way to get a reference). I've also tried on a Windows 7 computer w/ connection to same Oracle database with same problem.

Tim, If you go into your geoprocessing options and check the box for 'Add results of geoprocessing operations to the display' do the results get added to your map? Yes, that option is checked. I've tried MakeQueryLayer_management using a query that returns a spatial column, and the result *does* get added to the display. So the problem seems to lie with queries that don't return a spatial column, resulting in a table (Table View?) Update: also tried this with a postgres database with same result Update 2: using File>Add Data>Add Query Layer... does add the result to ArcMap, as does running the Make Query Layer tool from model builder. in this line 'Database Connections\my_database.sde' you're referencing an SDE connection or a workspace.. not a table.. the arguments for the MakeQueryTable command indicate that first argument should be a reference to a table so maybe something like: 'Database Connections\my_database.sde\table_name' would work instead? MakeQueryTable_management ( in_table, out_table, in_key_field_option, {in_key_field}, {in_field}, {where_clause}) Thanks for the reply. I'm using MakeQueryLayer_management, not MakeQueryTable_management. The first parameter for that tool is "input_database." Do you have any experience with MakeQueryLayer_management? Tim
