Hi Kelly. Thank you for replying. the challenges around 'current date' and AGOL have been a thorn in my side for while. A filter may/could work, but its less than ideal. Our site admin wants to see the records created "today"; To do that, they would apply the filter, select the date for 'today' from the calendar picker, and apply. the same is true for the query widget - a user has to select a date from the calendar. I'd like to default to the 'current date' so all the user has to do is apply the filter/query to get records created 'today' (instead of having to pick the date first). It seems like no big deal to do one extra click to select 'today', but we have multiple 'tasks' that depend on the date. over the course of a work day and then a work week, and so on, the frustration of that one extra click builds. Another example is that we would like to set a layer's symbology based on a Date calculation: the current date - the received date (the 'received date' is when the work was requested). So, each day the symbology for a given record would change as the record 'ages'. To work around this we have added an 'age' field to the feature class, and execute a python script nightly to calc the value for the age field. To me the more straight forward approach would be to have a 'native' current date function we could use. I should mention that the new Arcade scripting language offers this functionality. I have been able to use it in a test map: var startDate = Date($feature.DateReceived); var age = DateDiff(Date(), startDate, 'days'); return Round(age, 0); However, it seems that Collector does not support Arcade expressions so no data appears when viewing the map in Collector. So we are back to the old 'nightly processing' routine. Thanks again for your interest. I am happy to provide more details, talk about use cases, etc. let me know if I can help out. tom

An additional use case is to allow the 'current date' to be set as a default value for a field when a record is created. Similar functionality is already in place when the 'edit tracker' is enabled, i.e. CreationDate is set to the current date/time when the record is created. I'd like the same functionality for other fields in the feature class. Specifically, we have a 'status' field and a 'date status changed' field. When a new record is created, I can set the default status, but I can't set the 'date status changed' field. I would to set that value to the 'current date' when the record is created.

In AGOL, support queries or filters by the current date - whatever the current date is. This functionality should be part of the filters for layers, setting symbology, and within widgets. Currently, you must select a fixed date, or require your user to enter a specific date. Here are some specific use cases I want our field crew to be able to see what cases were assigned to them (or created) today, so I would set the filter/query based on our 'dateAssigned' or 'dateCreated' fields = current date. I want our data approvers to review data that was edited today. I would set a layer filter where our 'dateEdited' field = current date. In many cases the field crew needs to know the age of a work item - older work requests should be processed first - where the "age" of a work item is based on (current date - the 'dateCreated')

Hello. I have an AGOL hosted feature service that contains a few related tables. One of the tables has subtypes with each subtype having its own coded value domain. When i view the related table in the Pop-up / Info window, the text description of the coded value is displayed (in the screen cap below the text description is "Furniture: Chair"). However, when i view the same record in the attribute table widget, the numeric value is displayed (in the screen cap below, the numeric value of "9" is displayed instead of the text description "Furniture: Chair". I have seen a couple of posts in the Web App Builder forum indicating that this is (or was) a known bug but that it was fixed in subsequent releases, e.g. 2.1. Is the bug still present in the AGOL version of the widget? Is there some setting that i missed in configuring the attribute table widget?

Did you get any answers or fixes to your problem? I have a very similar situation as yours...... I have a related table in a an AGOL hosted feature service. The related table has subtypes and a few coded value domains. For one column which uses a domain, the data display in the web app is the numeric value. In the other columns the displays is the text value. Its quite weird and frustrating....... thanks.

Hello. I am working with an AGOL hosted feature layer. I am trying to calc the difference between when a record was added and the current date. I am using the 'calculate' function that is available by clicking in the 'gear' icon that appears in the upper right corner of a column header. The expression i am using is 'AgeInDays = CURRENT_DATE() - DateReceived'. That expression successfully validates. When i click the 'Calculate' button, i get the following error message: Calculate for the expression 'CURRENT_DATE() - DateReceived' failed. Implicit conversion from data type datetime to float is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query. I have tried various forms of the CONVERT function as suggested by the error message, but i haven't stumbled upon the correct syntax. Any idea why that expression is not working. My reading of the 'working with fields' documentation suggests that the number of days should be returned. In fact when i use two date fields from the table in the expression (rather than CURRENT_DATE), the number of days is returned. Is there something special i need to do to use 'CURRENT_DATE'? Any suggestions on how to use CURRENT_DATE to get the difference between two dates? Thank you.

Hi Jake. Thanks for the suggestions. In my original post, I was using Chrome. So, I tried IE 11 and was able to launch the web app builder as expected. I went back to chrome and re-tried. I got the same bad behavior as before so I popped open the Chrome debugger. In there, i saw an error message like this: Blocked a frame with origin "http://...." from accessing a cross-origin frame. I am not sure why, but i decided to manually enter the URL for the web app builder specifying 'https'. In Chrome and IE 11, specifying https in the URL for the web app builder worked fine. Unfortunately though, AGOL is defaulting to using HTTP when launching 'Edit Application' from My Content browser, even when i start the AGOL login process with 'https'. Any idea how i can set the default protocol to https? or why the problems with Chrome and http? Thanks again for your help.

Hello. I have built an Application in my AGOL Organization account. When i click on 'Edit Application', a new web page is loaded (Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS), but in the location where i expect my application to be there is only a spinner. And it spins without end. I can still access the application, as can other users in my organization. But i cannot edit it. Any ideas on what's going on? Thank you.

Hello I am creating a map in AGOL to track service requests. I want to symbolize the service requests based on the date the request was received, highlighting 'older' requests. An 'older' request is one that is more than 4 days old. In this use-case a given request is not old 'today' (not highlighted), but it will be old 'tomorrow' (highlighted). When i am setting up the 'Age' styling, it seems that selecting '<This Date>' uses the date that i am required to select in the Date Picker. Is there a way to set up the Age (or Continuous Timeline) Style so that the styling uses the current date - whatever that date it? thank you.

Thanks for the answer. Is 'manually set bin ranges' something that I could/should add to the Ideas section? Is there a way that the app's code could check the data type and if it is of type integer, then don't break bins at non-integer values?

(Originally I mistakenly posted this as a Discussion, and I cannot figure out how to move it. So i am re-posting this a Question. I apologize for the duplication). I am collecting some integer data. In most cases, the value will be zero and in all cases the values will be less than or equal to 10. Is there a way that i can set the bins for the column and bar charts so that they don't break on decimal values? I'd like to have either 11 bins (0-10) or something like 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-10 (or some such). It doesn't make sense to our users to see the data ranges based on decimal numbers

Thanks Craig. Regarding your suggested approach to (2)...... so first the assignment is created/saved, then use a python script to pull data from the 'assignments' feature class to build the URL string, then edit that assignment description adding in the URL. Is that what you had in mind?
