Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to share multipatch buildings in a 3D scene in AGO. so far, we've shared our buildings in a scene layer package, which we've published as a hosted scene layer in AGO. it's easy to share static data in this way, but we have a multipatch layer that changes frequently (new buildings are added often). How do we update the data in a scene layer? Is there another way besides creating a new scene layer package, uploading it to AGO, and then sharing it as a new hosted scene layer? Do hosted services always have to be based on data that is uploaded to AGO, or can they connect to databases, like services on an arc GIS server?

When you say "Add the fields", do you mean add fields to the data model? That's not feasible in our case, as the users are creating features in an existing feature class with a set data model. I don't see any scenario in which this would work, except for the very first feature? I think of showing/hiding fields as the role of the super user, or GIS administrator when setting up an ArcGIS Pro project etc and preparing that for the end user (editor). The idea is to make the user experience for the end users (data editors) as easy as possible. I might have to look into setting up Geocortex workflows instead.

Hi all, I'm trying to guide a user through an editing task. First, the user creates a point feature and adds a few attributes. Next, I want the user to add a few more attributes to the feature he just created. Then, a few more etc. I don't want the user to be presented with all the empty fields while creating the point feature, as I would like to give instructions for how to fill in each attribute. Is there a way that I can open the Attribute pane or the Attribute table for the user in a task, showing only one or a few fields? I'm using ArcGIS pro 1.2.

Is it possible to make the map pan along with the user on an Ipad? Say I'm in a car and have a map (not an application) from ArcGIS Online open on my Ipad. I want the map to move as I'm moving. Currently I seem only to be able to zoom to my location. Is there something I've missed?

I have a feature class where the XY extent (on the Feature Extent tab of the Feature Class properties) is set to a relatively small extent - max y 6 657 856 meters, min y 6 646 293 meters). Yet, the Bounding Box for the feature class (on the Indexes tab of the Feature Class properties) is very large (max Y is 9 007 189 256 640 meters min Y is - 9 998 100 meters, probably the Maximum for this coordinate system - ETRS 1989, UTM zone 32N). This seems to be impeding performance when editing. How can I tell the Feature class that the bounding box should be much smaller?

This seems to have solved the same error for us. We synchronize one-way from an SDE to GDB. Like Adam, I could also run the tools from ArcMap without error, but got 000582-errors in my log when running the script as a Scheduled task. Does anyone have any idea why this error occurs?

This might not solve your problem, but make sure you don't try to open the attachment manager from the _ATTACH-table, but from the original feature class/table.

Thanks for trying to reproduce the error. The error occurs intermittently, not every time i show/hide fields in the attribute table. I haven't found a failsafe way to reproduce it yet, unfortunately. Thanks for clearing up my confusion about the Spaces as well!

I'm using ArcMap 10.2 for Desktop (10.2.0.3348). Sometimes when I use the Fields tab of the Layer Properties and change which fields I want to be visible, my changes aren't reflected in the Attribute table in ArcMap. I have to remove and add the layer to ArcMap again for it to work properly. I have had this happen on both point feature classes, tables in SDE databases, tables with joins etc. This has also happened to some of my colleagues, using ArcMap 10.1. I couldn't find anything about this in the Knowledge base, so I'm just wondering if this is a known bug? - Turid PS: Is there a Space for ArcMap or ArcGIS Desktop? I am completely lost on this site and couldn't find one. Any pointers would be welcome...

That's correct for an MXD, but I wanted to know if the same was possible for a service. Thanks, though!

Hi hi, Is it possible to see which database connection a map/feature service uses to acces data in an .sde database? I can see it in the MXD that was used to create the service, but sometimes the MXD has been changed and not republished, so I always take that information with a grain of salt.

That's a good point, Rachel. I've used a standard feature in ArcSDE databases called Create Attachments. This creates a related table for a feature class with geometry (such as our point feature class), and the pictures are stored in the related table - as you correctly surmised. I guess it works in this way so people don't have to change the schema of their original feature class. The two are related via the object id in the original feature class. BTW the pictures are not linked to with a pathway, they reside in the database as blob features.

Does anyone know if it's possible to symbolize which features have an attachment? I have a point feature class with an attachment table containing pictures. Only some of the points have attached pictures. I'd like to show with different symbols in the map which features have attachments and which have not. So far, the best I've come up with is to join the feature class and the attachment table, and to symbolise on one of the attributes in the attachment table. Where the attribute is <null>, there is no attachment. This is not a good solution, because the join seems to make it impossible for me to add new attachments to the feature class. I have therefore exported the table containing the join, but that means the symbology is static.
