Hi, I've just got round to revisiting the map that was causing this issue (NIM104323), and even in 10.3, the issue still remains. In my test scenario, I have TomTom street network data + a TomTom river layer. The first image shows it in ArcMap. The second image shows it in a SDK for .NET application(10.2.5), after it was shared as Runtime Content. Approximately 1/3rd of the street layer is missing, but the river layer is displayed. This problem also appears when you share a NetworkDataset as Runtime Content. I generated a Network Dataset using the street layer shown. In ArcMap it correctly finds routes, but in my application, it will only calculate routes in the top area of the map. Let me know if you need any more information.

Hi Mike, Attached is our test sample. If you run it. (then for me!) Without panning or zooming map, rotate map using Up button, notice 20th and 21st, are not correcting themselves, and the roads are not extending to fill the map. Now Pan the map a small amount. Now labels adjust properly and full extent is drawn. Continue using Up button, till it gets to ~23 deg. Notice map has jumped scale. Press Down button, until you get down to 0, then press up again. You are now back to initial state 1. I hope that helps Thanks Andrew Purkis Versaterm Inc.

Follow up: This was kind of reported under RT.NET-000025 in the beta, and assigned NIM100378. NIM1000378 has been fixed in 10.3. Is that fix included in 10.2.4? The labels problem can be seen using the test app I submitted with the original problem report. If you convert it to 10.2.4, then start it. Don't touch the map; just click the rotate button, and you can see the label problem. As well the enlarged extent is not being rendered, i.e. the corners are cut off. If you click in the map the labels will be displayed correctly, but the problem originally reported (scale changing) still remains. Thanks Andrew Purkis Versaterm Inc

A bug seems to have been introduced between 10.2.3 and 10.2.4 with regards to map rotation and .mpk layers. In 10.2.3 when I rotate the maps, the labels adjusted themselves to always remain readable. In 10.2.4 they now rotate in sync with the map, so at 180 deg, horizontal labels are now upside down. (See attach files). Andrew Purkis Versaterm Inc

This is a follow up to the question I asked on the beta forum. I’m having problems displaying a feature layer from a geodatabase. I have a feature layer that contains all the Municipalities in Penn State (.shp ~ 22mb). In ArcMap it displays fine, and I get no errors, when I run ’Analyse Map’. (see attached image). If I package it as runtime content, and display it, it doesn’t display the southern portion of the map (see attached image). I tried changing the visible extent in ArcMap, so the northern portion was cut off, and the more I cut off the more of the southern part was displayed. I also packaged the map as a map package, and it displays fine. Initially, I wasn’t displaying the feature layer, I was just using it to query the Municipal Names, and I noticed that some names were missing. Mike Branscomb replied: Hi, We have addressed a couple of issues both in the creation of runtime content from ArcMap (in 10.2.2) and more recently in the runtime geodatabase which might have addressed the issue you are experiencing. Are you able to attach the original Shapefile and MXD you are using (allowing me to test the same runtime content creation workflow) and the .geodatabase file you created? Cheers Mike The problem still exists with 10.2.4. Can you give me an idea when an update to ArcMap will be available, since you also seem to have updated ArcMap as well? I'm still trying to get permission to share the shapefile! Andrew Purkis Versatem Inc.

From Runtime for WPF forum Tile Packaging: make use of multiple processors It would be nice for future releases, if the ability to use more than one core was available when generating tile packages from the File->Share As->Tile Package option of ArcMap. It is available through the Environment settings of the ArcToolbox->Data Management Tools->Tile Cache options (and works like a charm! thank you very much!!) However I can't guarantee that all my customers will have degrees in Esriology, and will understand how it works. So I'd much rather rely on the menu option. I did try setting the value in the Geoprocessing->Environment option, hoping that the Tile Package option would pick it up, but no luck. Given that this already works, I doubt it would be too difficult to implement, and you'll certainly make lots of customers happy Thanks Andrew Purkis Versaterm Inc Reply from Mike Branscomb Re: Tile Packaging: make use of multiple processors Hi, That's a good suggestion, and a great tip for other users too. We did try to keep the sharing dialog as simple as possible so I can see there being some design required for exposing an advanced option such as this. Rather than giving users the option, perhaps we could always default to always using multiple cores instead... You could also wrap up a tiling workflow as a python script/tool and share that with your users - that might help ensure that they always follow the workflow you would like them use. A better place to suggest enhancements is actually the ArcGIS Ideas site: http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaList?cat...ArcGIS+Desktop. That's the link to Desktop, since it's a desktop-based workflow, but you could tag it runtime as well. Cheers Mike

Hi I'm having problems with the navigation control, when using a local map package. The map loads correctly, but the navigation control doesn't display a zoom slider (see attached ). I've tried this in code behind (preferred solution) and xaml. XAML: <Window x:Class="navtest2.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:esri="http://schemas.esri.com/arcgis/client/2009" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" d:DesignWidth="337" SizeToContent="WidthAndHeight" d:DesignHeight="287" mc:Ignorable="d" Loaded="Window_Loaded"> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" > <Grid.Resources> <BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="BooleanToVisibilityConverter"/> </Grid.Resources> <esri:Map x:Name="MyMap" WrapAround="True" Extent="-15000000,2000000,-7000000,8000000" Background="#FFE3E3E3" MinimumResolution="2445.98490512499"> <esri:ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer Path="./USCitiesStates.mpk"/> </esri:Map> <esri:Navigation Margin="5" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Map="{Binding ElementName=MyMap}" /> </Grid> </Window> C# Behind Code: LocalMapService localMapService = new LocalMapService() { Path = "./USCitiesStates.mpk", MaxRecords = 100000 }; localMapService.StartAsync(localService => { if (localService.Error != null) return; ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer layer = new ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer(localMapService); MyMap.Layers.Add(layer); }); Any help would be appreciated. Hi, I have a routing package that also generates a directions file for output. Using the same ModelBuilder Model, I have varied the output type of the directions file between the three options (xml, text and html). For both xml and html it works perfectly, but I cannot get it to retrieve an .txt directions file. I'm getting a url returned in the Output parameters: http://127.0.0.1:50000/sxmkFd/outputdir/routetext/output/_ags_Directions1.txt but when I try to copy it I get a "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found." The code for copying it locally is: if (fileURI != null) { WebClient wc = new WebClient(); string suffix = ".txt"; if (fileURI.EndsWith(".xml")) suffix = ".xml"; else if (fileURI.EndsWith(".html")) suffix = ".html"; LocalRouteDirectionsFile = string.Format("{0}{1}", "Directions", suffix); try { wc.DownloadFile(fileURI, LocalRouteDirectionsFile ); } catch (Exception ex) { errorHandler("getDirectionsFile", "", ex); } Any suggestions? The same code works for html and xml. Thanks Andrew Purkis

The customer's data that I was using contained a mixture of projection types. Some were defined with a NAD of Feet and some of type Feet_Intl. Not that I guessed that from Error Code 999999, thankfully technical support found it! Hope that helps! Andrew Purkis

Hi, I need to create tile packages using my own scales, in the early beta version I could do it directly from the 'Share As' 'Tile Package' menu item. Currently I can only use predefined values, which would be fine if I could modify both the 'highest level of detail' and the 'lowest level of detail'. However using a very simple map document (1 layer) and 1 scale value, it works. I've also tried using a tiling scheme file (ArcToolbox - Generate MapServer Cache Tiling Scheme), again using my simple document and 1 scale value. That generates no errors. However, when I use the xml file as the Tiling Scheme, Analyze gives no errors, but as soon as I say share, I get a pop-up, that says 'Invalid function arguments'. Finally I tried ArcToolbox - Create Map Tile Package, using all the same parameters. It gives me an Error 999999 : Error executing function. Am I doing something wrong? Andrew Purkis

Thanks for the reply, But I'm still a bit confused. Up till now I've not paid to much attention to the licensing of the product. I've been storing a license string in a file (standard), read it in do a ArcGISRuntime.SetLicense(license-file), then a ArcGISRuntime.Initialize() and make sure it's initialized. In our final product, we will be deploying some basic and some standard versions, and probably some with extensions. What I need is one executable for everything, and after I've run the Initialize, check the version to ensure I disable all functionality that doesn't apply based on the current license. I ran some checks today, and in a development environment, everything is enabled, even if I run with a basic license. It would be nice if when I set it to basic in development, it lets me know when I'm trying to initialize functionality, not covered by that license level. As far as determining the license level, obviously, I can parse the data in the license string, and use that. But what bothers me with that is strings can easily be changed 2-3 years down the road, without realizing the consequences. An enum within ArcGISRuntime object would hopefully safeguard against that. Thanks Andrew

Hi, Is there a way to check what the current settings for the Runtime license level (Basic or Standard) + Extensions are? It would be nice to see it in the ArcGISRuntime class. Andrew Purkis
