I generated reports successfully. However most tables are empty (such as users, waiting time, statistics.....). I have the ArcGIS log level set to INFO. Is it the problem? Should set to to higher level of logging?

Thank you fklotz, this work around solution works great for us. Esri Support Case #03202119. My question is if it is an identified bug, when ESRI will have a patch for it? Thank you.

I also have the exact problem. I am also using version 10.6.1. The problem for me is the old backup location was removed. Now I am not able to set the location to a new place.

Thank you Joshua, that is exactly the way to get to the PublishingToolsEx. ' For the upgrading, I also had great difficulties from 10.5 to 10.6.1. The instructions by ESRI assumes everything goes smoothly, if one step does not complete properly, you are out of luck. I end up did somewhat similar to Joshua did. But slightly different. Before the upgrade, make a copy of the "arcgisportal" and "arcgisserver" folder of the 10.5. Then I install all the new components fresh (but DO NOT unfederated ArcGIS servers, including hosting server). Once all the components in place, copy the old 10.5 "arcgisportal", "arcgisserver" folders to replace the new 10.6.1 "arcgisserver" folder. This gave me somewhere to start. Then I start the portal and fix a few things, mainly to change the version number. In this way, most of my existing links are working. I know this is not the best way, but at least allows me quickly get most things back. I also learned that we can use other more sophisticated migration tools, like "chef arcgis cookbook", I have not explored this yet.

My question is more general. Would it be possible to change any default setting when we publish a hosted layer to a Portal. More specifically, I need "supportsAttachmentsByUploadId" is false instead of true. But Portal 10.6.1 is automatically set it to true. I would imagine there is an admin user interface or a master config file that I can make this default change. Just wonder.

I agree that the communication of releasing Portal 10.6.1 and Insights 3.0 can be improved. Implementation of the Portal is not a simple software installation. There are so many considerations, configurations, components and steps can go wrong. Perhaps we tend to under estimate the complexity of the implementation in an organization. In my case, it created a big challenge for me to manage the expectations of the decision makers.

Duane, Did you ever successfully publish to the hosting server? My problem was after the upgrade from Portal 10.5 to 10.6.1. It was working when I use 10.5. So the 4 steps fixed the problem caused by the upgrading. If your hosting server never work, it might be the trust among Portal, Hosting Server, Data Store have issues. It is possible caused by the certificate. Configuring the portal to trust certificates from your certifying authority—Portal for ArcGIS (10.6) | ArcGIS Enterpri… I worked with my IT infrastructure expert to set that up. Alex

I think the original question is more about the "Create New Feature Layer" option in Portal. I also wonder wheather we have the same "create new (empty) feature layer" option in Portal as in ArcGIS Online. It descripted in the following link: https://community.esri.com/groups/technical-support/blog/2015/05/14/the-secret-way-to-create-an-empty-feature-service-to-use-with-arcgis-online

The issue was solved. Based on ESRI suggestions, I did the following steps 1. unregistered datastore with hosting server 2. reregistered datastore with hosting server 3. stop/start PublishingTools on hosting server manager 4. stop/start PublishingToolsEX on hosting server admin

I tried to publish a simple small shapefile to the hosting server from Portal. I am using "Add from My Computer" I received the error 999999, Error executing tool. Publish Portal Service Job ID:j1a2b......, Error executing function, Bad syntax in request (status code 400). Failed to execute (Publish Portal Service). The source of the error is: System/Publishing Tool. GPServer. I am able to user arcmap and publish service to the hosting server as feature layer. Therefore, the hosting server and the datastore appears function properly. I really don't know where to look for the solution. Wonder any one had similar problem for the Portal 10.6.1.
