Hi Zach, Thnx for the previous link. Please send me the ste-by-step that you and your colleague put together so that i can go through that as well. Mabu, You'll have to provide me with your email address. I cannot upload the .pptx file by itself or zipped. It says it's too big but I know it's not. The .zip file limit is 2MB and the zipped file is 1.2MB.

Mabu, The following link will take you to a useful tutorial that was put together by the geological sciences department at UT Austin: http://www.geo.utexas.edu/courses/371C/Labs/Lab10.htm. If this isn't sufficient, I can send along a step-by-step that a colleague and I put together when I was working in the Geography Department at NMSU.

Matt, were you able to get this resolved? Tim's response was as good as it gets based on your inquiry; however, I may be able to troubleshoot this a bit more with you if you are still stuck.

I agree with Karyn. I always open my excel spreadsheets (after formatting) in ArcCatalog and right-click the sheet of interest and convert to DBASE (.dbf). ArcGIS will have problems with Excel sheets from time to time. To get rid of the leading zeros, i'd just create a new column in excel and select the zip code column in excel and apply the following formula: =RIGHT(A2, LEN(A2)-2). That will remove two characters from right to left. For ArcGIS, I always save my data tables in dbf format. You can save your excel file as dbf, but check to be sure the preceding zero was maintained. Also, you can always convert your Excel table into an ArcGIS table via ArcCatalog. This would be the preferred method to ensure compatibility between your table and ArcGIS processing.

Hello all, I am trying to get the MapTips control to work. I have all the code matching and know it's pulling from the right service and layer. It does nothing when I hover or click on the layer of interest. Could it have to do with the Geometry envelope in the C#? ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Tasks.Query query = new ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Tasks.Query() { Geometry = new ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Geometry.Envelope(-180, 0, 0, 90) }; Also, I cannot seem to change the damn color of my scale bar text. I have a white background so I'd like black or maroon text and cannot seem to find a simple way to do it. Any help would be much appreciated!

I am also unable to open up the help on the Arc Hydro Tools 9 toolbar. I get a blank message box with an ok button. I am running Windows 7 Professional and ArcGIS 9.3.1. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have done some digging on this topic and haven't found a solution. I am exploring the idea of migrating some of our WMAs from the ESRI Web ADF to Silverlight. I can get the application to eat up ESRI's services and other online services but not my own. I have no security set on these services and I can view them in the ArcGIS Services directory (REST) with the ArcGIS Javascript option. I found some documentation on here about tokens but I don't think that is my problem. I have also tried a custom extent in case it was just opening up at an incorrect extent. I have tried both Dynamic and Tilled services that I have up and running. Am I missing something? Any Ideas would be great! Oh yea, I found the error when opening it up in IE. Firefox did not give me an error. "Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application A security exception occurred while trying to connect to the REST endpoint. Make sure you have a cross domain policy file available at the root for your server that allows for requests from this application...." I guess i need a policy file. ???

This probably doesn't answer your question but I would just set your environment settings under raster storage to create pyramids. This way, it will always create pyramids. It will probably skip over those that already have them. Even if it overwrites them, that is better than it not working at all for you.

I am trying to get a basic tool/model to work and there is one hangup. The Population field in the kernel density tool is required and therefor has to be incorporated. I do not have a field to select so I want the default value of "NONE" It works fine using the kernel density tool alone but not my model. I have attached the error and model. I have created t his so that my KDE is more efficient. This way I don't have to enter an extent polygon, cell size, etc. every time for the same area. Any help would be much appreciated! Oh yea, I have tried assigning it the NONE value, using it as a parameter and not, and trying preconditions and no luck.
