Z Factor won't stay at 1 (3D Analyst)

Hi People,

I've recently been running the 3D Analyst tool Surface Volume and have noticed that even when I set my Z factor to 1 it always gets changed to 0.999998.  While this is a very small difference, it does create a problem with the accuracy of the data I'm working with.

Currently, I'm running this tool as part of a rather large model, but I have noticed this problem while running the stand alone tool as well.  If anyone has any explanation of this or a way to actually get it to stay at 1, please let me know.

Thanks,

John

Small update on this issue...

I know that the Surface Volume tool, like most Spatial/3D Analyst tools uses floating point values which is the source of the z factor being converted to 0.999998 from true 1.  But, I would still like to know if anyone out there has come up with some way to preserve these finite decimals.

Thanks
