Create editiing options in Collector for ArcGIS. It is not possible to cut polygons or polylines. Neither to move features.

I am surprised how long this has idea has been in the queue without implementation.  The ability to split lines and polys would significantly improve our ability to use collector in the field.  We need to be able to track work on linear and area features, quickly marking where work stops so that it can easily be picked up the next day.

Tagging the Esri Collector for ArcGIS‌ team.

Do y'all have any ideas on when this idea might get reviewed or implemented into a future version of Collector?

I also can see a workflow for split line.  Being able to define a baseline coastline polyline and then allow the field teams to split that coastline into operational sections would be very helpful.

I see that snapping is arriving soon <<see link>> that would allow a reasonably elegant workround but still not as good as split.

Given that its taken so long, I am guessing this is harder to implement than we think.  I'm guessing the risk of taking it offline would cause some challenges if multiple users split the line simultaneously and then try and sync. That would hurt my brain.

We would also like to see this functionality added to Collector. Splitting a line where features change is integral to the data collection process.

I know this is an old thread but I too would like to see this implemented.  Our agency has to report to USDA the types of crops grown every year in our state and we still go out in the field with laptops with ArcGIS Desktop/Pro installed because where last year we might have a whole polygon/field of corn, this year part of that field is now sorghum so we have to quickly split the field using gps pucks at the "division line".  Pretty funny carrying around a bulky laptop and holding out our Dual Sky Pro GPS out to do the field split...

Hi Caitlyn. We have a similar workflow requirement in our line of work (splitting forestry harvest areas when only partially complete). We jacked it by having fueled staff use Collector to capture what we call a "Split line" and then the GIS team use that line to split the underlying polygons and update the attributes to suit. Something similar may work for your needs. Capture points or a line in the field with basic attributes (i.e. Left = corn  right = sorghum) and there lines are symbolised with arrow heads to show the direction of capture.

Hi Everyone,

Yes we have explored this process as well with a line for splitting but the attributes being one of the 8 points of the compass and a reference to those that are donuts (“C”) below.

e.g.

NW

N

NE

W

C

E

SW

S

SE

This requires a greater amount of programming and Triaging. It would be so the much easier using the Tools within collector to update the feature classes directly.

Thanks
