I would like to see ESRI create a system for managing tokens used with client applications like Silverlight, Flex and Javascript API. This would be useful for organizations that have secured services and public facing applications that don't require authentication, not a good scenario for a proxy page. In this system, tokens would be created at design time by an automated process. They would be recreated on a regular basis which would be configurable. The system could also be configured to auto email new tokens to third party application developers or update application config files on the local system. In the case of the latter, the apps would read the tokens from the config files so they don't have to be hardcoded in the application. The reading from config files would be particularly valuable when applications move through the development, test and production process.
