Enter elevation values into attribute table

Hello I am trying to enter the elevation values from a vector DEM file into the attribute table. I did it once so I know it can be done but can't remember how I did it. Thanks for any solutions.

Could you clarify on this? Do you have vectors created from a DEM or are you trying to add elevation values into an existing point feature class?

Hi, thanks for your interest. What I have is a DEM vector shape file created in Envi which I have opened in ArcMap. I would like to add the elevation number into a column in the attribute table so I can show certain elevations and not others.
