Hi,

I'd like to use ArcGIS Online basemaps but not is the Web Mercator projection. Because of that I want to know if it's possible to reproject and republish them in a Map Service.

=> Is it possible to recover ArcGIS Online tiles of a zone, then reproject and republish them in a Map Service?

No, you cannot re-publish ArcGIS Online basemaps as your own web services.

Hope this helps,

Ok thanks.

Is it technically or legally impossible?

Could you elaborate on how it is technically impossible ?
I managed to republish a dynamic map service from an ArcGIS Online service:
- I created an MXD
- I set the projection of the group layer to the projection I want
- I added an ArcGIS Online map service to the group layer
- Then I published the MXD as a map service and it worked just fine (as dynamic map service)

But then when I tryed to create a cache from that service, it seems that the tiles were not "georeferenced(?)" correctly :
The coordinate system of the tiles seems to have been changed to the one of the MXD, but the coordinates themselves weren't reprojected.
=> When I try to go to the location (x,y), I don't get the correct location.

PS: I know you said this is illegal, but I'm trying to understand how map services work in this case. I'm not going to use this method.

Sorry, I cannot comment further on this topic.
