When upgrading License Manager from 10.5 to 2023, does it keep the old licenses or do you have to reimport them?

We are about to upgrade a license manager from 10.5.1 to 2023, but are wondering if it will lose all our loaded concurrent ArcMap (10.5 - 10.8) licenses and we will need to reload our licenses into it?  Or does it keep the old licenses onboard with the upgrade and they will start working immediately when we start running the new license server?

Hey @BrettBlankner

From my experience going from 2021 (or 2022 I can't remember currently), I did have to reinsert the license authorization file from portal to get the licenses reloaded onto there.

Hope that helps!

The documentations suggests not:

You should only need to stop the license service.

@BrettBlankner my organization moved from 10.5.1 to 2022 and did not lose the loaded licenses.

Hi @BrettBlankner, normally this is not a problem, just keep in mind that you will have to also open port 27000 if you have a firewall running in addition to your licensing port, otherwise when you upgrade pro your latest pro will not work.

Kind Regards

Henry
