I took down our public Experience Builder apps and went back to our WAB apps. Between several bugs and limitations and all these widget issues (how is there not a basic measure widget we can configure?), I won't be revisiting ExB for at least another year. I was hopeful that migrating would be easier, but to me, ExB is not a replacement for WAB right now, and it's disappointing that Esri is pushing us by retiring WAB in 2025. Esri - you have ALOT of work ahead of you in the next year.
Agreed. I spent dozens of hours trying to replicate the functionality of my WAB Production apps and concluded almost a year ago that ExB is still really in Beta, despite what Esri has labeled it. I check on it every few months after the periodic updates, but there are just too many things in ExB that needs work to match the functionality and stability of WAB or even the Instant Apps.. At this point Esri should be realistic and push out retirement of WAB at least a year or two. Esri should focus on matching WAB functionality first before adding any fancy new features or widgets, and expanding the online training for ExB. That is how adoption of ExB will be accelerated.
And they have the audacity to inform us that we will simply need to rebuild all of our WAB apps in EXB. I am so sick of ESRI pushing all of the work on their customers.
@Jianxia Do you know if ExB development is still on track to achieve URL parameter parity with WAB for Q4 this year? If so, about when would that Q4 update happen?
I know there was just an ArcGIS Online update that just went live, I assume that was the Q3 update, right?
Yes, this functionality is already available in new Near Me. It works with the Search widget using message action. In you app, add Search widget and configure your locator (geocode and/ or feature layer), then from the action tab of Search widget click -> Add a trigger -> Record selection changes ->Near Me ->Set location. Save your app. Now if you search for an address or a feature, it will be used as an input location in Near Me. This blog will walk you through the process, check Add and configure the search widget sectionhttps://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/experience-builder/natural-resources/recreating-near-me-wo...
@Anonymous User , thanks for letting us know. We are now working on the parity in each widget and hopefully get to the place that meet your migration requirements soon. Appreciate that you gave Experience Builder a run.
@TomDuncanGIS , Currently we are evaluating the parity in each widget and will provide a plan so you have a clear picture on when to migrate apps. The instructor-led two-day online training is also available:
@KennyLohr1 , unfortunately the URL parameters, originally planned for Q4 2023, did not make to the October release. Currently it is on the track for Q1 2024, in the mid of February.
@Jianxia , thank you very much for your responses. Regarding the online training, I was hoping for more extensive free on-line training for those of us who are paying annual maintenance. The $1,900 per class training are very robust and comprehensive, but financially out of reach for many of us that don't work for large employers with big training budgets.
@Jianxia - Are there any progress for the URL parameters? The current share widget doesn't have the capability of sharing the features(Zoom to feature)
I'm happy to hear that the stand alone select widget for Experience Builder is expected to be released in Q1 2024. I'm posting to let you know that we have a public facing app that is heavily used that we are moving over from Web App Builder before end-of-life in June '24 (wanting to do it before that actually) that uses the WAB select widget as a main feature. This is a big priority for us. Thank you.
Hi @Jianxia : Any chance we'll see the ability to draw text added to the EB Draw widget in 2024? I've transitioned many of my WAB apps to EB, but my users always seems to instantly point out that the ability to add text is critical to them producing their own maps.
