I get the splash screen for about 45 seconds, then it crash with a "serious application error".  I'm running XP, with 9.3 installed on same machine.  Am I missing something?

Thanks Presto
I was afraid of that......

You may have some luck with a driver update, I wasn't able to attempt that in my particular case because my toughbooks use a customized version of the driver that hasn't been updated.

I have a similar problem.  ArcGIS Explorer 1500 doesn't crash, but I am unable to switch to 3D mode.  I also have an "Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family" display on a Lenovo R400 and have tried both the Microsoft Windows Update version of the driver (8.15.10.2302) as well as the most recent version from Lenovo (8.15.10.2226).

Is there any hope for 3D support?

Same problem here on 1700. I have a computer with Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. This is disappointing since we have ESRI infrastructure elsewhere in my department and thought ArcGIS Explorer would be a good way to open up some of our geocontent to non-specialist users.

ESRI: Any fixes or patches?

I'm having the same problem with 1700.  Dell Latitude E6500 with Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset.  Running Windows XP Professional SP 3.

Hey there,

I had a client who was also experiencing a crash when trying to launch ArcGIS Explorer. After reviewing the dmp file he sent, it turned out the application was crashing on 'ig4dev32.dll', which was his Intel Video Driver DLL. He upgraded to the following driver:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2991&DwnldID=19412&ProductFamily=Graph...

and it worked well for him. I hope this can help others with the same problem!

I was having the same issue, Explorer kept on crashing when I started it up (running Windows7 Professional on a Dell Precision 7510).

I just went into Switchable Graphics and and set Explorer's Graphic Setting to High Performance and now it runs fine.
