Define GPS units (Imperial/Metric) using Field Maps Designer instead of Mobile App.

Currently the units of the GPS are assigned automatically depending on the basemap spatial reference. If you are using the default esri basemaps in a country that uses the metric system, all individual users of the Field maps app will have to alter the settings. An option to control units within Field Maps Designer will help avoid confusion amongst field staff.

The GPS data field for "Altitude" is in meters and is not changeable as a setting for storing the data in the record. When the current Units setting is changed in either Field Maps (or Quick Capture) and/or Trimble Mobile Manager the status of altitude is indeed in feet, but when you collect a feature it does not store this value it in feet, it still uses meters, regardless of the settings. This is confusing and defeats what I thought the point of changing units would be to have my data provided in the units specified.

I like this idea of having the global "units" setting in FM designer, and suggest that this setting also have the option to  "Store values using Application Units", a simple checkbox that could make this possible.   If we don't want to loose or modify the "altitude" values currently in stored as meters, then maybe the checkbox could add a new field for the converted data, similar to how the "enable GPS averaging" or "Z-enabled" checkboxes add fields to store data specific to elevation, & GPS averaging.

I'm sure it takes a lot to make this happen,  thanks for this discussion!
