Maps for Office in a disconnected network

Is there a way to use Maps for Office in a disconnected network? I would like to use Maps for Office behind a firewall with Portal for ArcGIS.

Esri Maps for Office currently only works with a connection to ArcGIS Online. There are plans to bring it to ArcGIS Portal in the near future though.

Could you possibly elaborate on the plans and provide an eta?  This is something we would like to see working with Portal as well.

I am not aware of a specific ETA, but the plans were for sometime this fall.
