It would be great to use portal authentication to be able to login to ArcGIS monitor instead of having to maintain users separately.  This would also allow for single sign on if configured within the portal.

Hello @DavidMcCorkindale1,

When you say portal authentication, do you mean the built-in user store, where you provide a username and password in the Portal for ArcGIS login screen? Or are you referring to a SAML or IWA login experience?

Hi @DavidMcCorkindale1,

Your idea sounds similar to this submitted idea, Support AD or LDAPS identity stores.

Can you please review and confirm if this is the case?

Another consideration: If Monitor were to use the same logins as enterprise portal members, then we may need to also follow the ArcGIS User Type model in portal.

Thanks,

DavidMcCorkindale1

Hi @DerekLaw  and @GeoJosh

This is not really similar to AD or LDAP approach as we don't use either of these in our portals.  We would like to see an OAuth implementation that would enable any type of authentication (built-in, saml, etc) provisioned in the portal to be allowed as a login.  This is the same approach that is used by the ESRI Geoportal application with authentication taking place against the portal and portal groups used to control authorization within the application.

Our monitor users are all admins within portal so are already licensed under the ArcGIS user type model.

Thanks

Hi @DavidMcCorkindale1,

Thanks for the additional information/context on your requirement. 👍

This is a important requirement for us too. Especially in a large environment it should be possible to use the same single sign-on process for the ArcGIS Monitor as defined on the ArcGIS Portal (SAML or in our case OAuth/Open ID Connect).
The people who use ArcGIS Monitor are all licenced under the ArcGIS user type model.
