New Map Viewer Starting an Editing Session on Feature Deletes existing attribute info

Hi All 

We have a map with several feature layers all of a similar schema. one layer has recently developed an issue whereby when an editing session starts on a feature , certain attribute data of that feature is  being deleted (almost as if a form has been applied and the value has been forced to be null) the thing is however there is no form applied to the layer . Not all fields are affected and if you abandon the editing session you can discard edits and avoid the deletion of data. There are copies of the layer on other maps  that have forms applied . is this potentially a bug or are there settings applied outside of a form that may cause this behavior ?

Now that we have the ability to save the form info into the layer OR the map, is it possible that the Form info was saved to the layer itself?

Possibly has a calculated visibility expression on that field or something (which, by default will Null out any values in there when 'hidden')?

Can use ArcGIS online Assistant to inspect the JSON of that layer and see if any expressions are in there.
