ESRI should build in a warning that alerts the user that multiple features are being moved so that the user has an opportunity to escape the potential harm being done. If you have multiple features selected while in an edit session and you attempt to move one feature, all of the selected features are moved simultaneously.
If this isn't noticed prior to saving the edits an enormous quantity of work can be lost.
