I've ignored the geoprocessing history for a very long time as it logs so much and looking back into it in many instances will take longer than just re-running the tool. However, on a recent project I've been in the habit of keeping the history clean by removing a lot of the basic items (i.e. select by attributes, field calculates, exports, etc.) and just keeping items in the list that took a little more effort, for instance many that required some field mapping. This has allowed me tp see the power of GP History and how I could actually utilize it to make my workflows more efficient. With this being said, I see one enhancements that could go a long way:

It would be great if a user had the ability to choose what gets saved to the GP history. This would preferably be allowed through settings where certain tasks can be omitted (Selections, Field Calculates, Exports, etc.) and/or a radio button that can be unchecked at runtime to not log a certain task to history.

Thank you for submitting these ideas @ScottFedak2085

These are two separate requests. Please see the ArcGIS Ideas Submission Guidelines and Statuses for guidance on submitting requests that do not contain multiple ideas.

For #2 "The ability to rename an item so it's easier to identify in the list and go back to and utilize later on in a project. This would add a little enhancement to being able to add to History Favorites"

There is an existing idea. Please go to History: allow annotation or alias of item names  and add your kudos there.

Given that, can you please edit the idea's title and description to make it only about choosing what gets logged in History?

Thanks
