ArcPro can only connect to one portal at a time. This makes it impossible to create and publish a service that consumes content from both AGOL and Enterprise Portal. Can you please enable multiple simultaneous 'portal' connections?
You can connect to multiple, but only one can be set as the "active" portal. Can you give more details about the service you're publishing?
I recently used Pro to create a map that used resources from two portals, and it worked just fine, but I've not attempted to publish anything that way.
@MatthewLawson1 You don't need to delete a portal connection to authenticate a different user; you can sign out of one account and sign in to another.
There was a recent request to add an option to switch users. Can you confirm that this is the same functionality you would like to see implemented? If so, this idea can be merged. Here is the idea: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/switch-user-option/idi-p/1209863
@MatthewLawson1 Just to add, you can sign out of your active portal, manage your portal connections, or switch your active portal. Your active is the portal you share/publish to or access content from.
Under Portals, you can add multiple ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise portal connections in Pro. The green check mark is next to the active portal.
Is there anything we could improve in the UI? We want to ensure that all users know that they can add and manage multiple portal connections in Pro.
Hello,
I'd like to add my thoughts and support to this thread.
We do a lot of our work within ArcGIS Online. Selecting Manage Portals or Project - Portals, we use both www.arcgis.com and name.maps.arcgis.com. Within both of those, we have multiple accounts we need to use.
The problem we run into is that we are not able to pre-set all of those accounts in Manage Portals and then simply switch between them via Switch Active Portal. Manage Portals doesn't have the ability to have multiple accounts attached to each domain, but it needs to. For example, for our name.maps.arcgis.com, we'd like to be able to pre-sign in as fred, barney and wilma, so that we can use Switch Active Portal to quickly jump between accounts (mostly commonly used when publishing). This is a common use case within one of our departments and as GIS/data administrators.
Because we have to first log out of an existing account in order to log in as another user, inevitably we'll accidently click on the account that is associated with the named user. Now we've just added a bunch more time and hassle to what should be an extremely simple task.
If this shortcoming can be addressed, it would be fantastic, but as a Part 2, I would further suggest that management of Portal connections be available via Catalog. I think in terms of connections to read and/or write data sources such as enterprise geodatabase, ArcGIS Servers, etc. Connections to Portals should be handled in the same, consistent manner as other data sources.
Thank you, Bob
It looks like this idea is the same as one that I'm thinking of. I would like to set up portal connections to have two users connect to my enterprise Portal and two users connect to my ArcGIS Online account. In both cases one of the users is "me" in my planning department role and the other user is the admin of the accounts.
That way when I switch portals I can choose if I am using my planning user or if I'm using my admin user.
