"Failed to publish web layer" error

Been trying to publish a web map from an ArcGIS Pro project with dozens of layers in multiple groups that keeps failing after hours of waiting for it to publish. Every feature class has been moved into one geodatabase with everything in one feature dataset with Web Mercator coordinate system. It's all vector data, no rasters.

did you say group layers?

24035: Layer type is not supported for web feature layer

Group Layers are part of the Web Map that I am publishing. The WFL doesn't allow group layers but the Web Map does (I've published dozens and dozens of maps and WFLs, just never a project with this many layers from so many different sources).

I'm currently attempting to publish as multiple maps, each with fewer layers to see which layers are causing the failure.

Turns out a few of my layers are being weird and won't publish even after "Repair Geometry" but I got the map to publish once I removed them. But now to try to figure out what's wrong with those layers...

can you export the "bad" layer to a fresh new one and then do the name swap?
