From Survey 123 Connect (version 1.4.30) is there a way to use a custom base map you have published on ArcGIS Online as the Default Map in your form. Currently, from the Default Map Type drop-down there is no option to select a custom map?

Using a custom base map in ArcGIS Online as your base map in Survey 123 Connect.  Ultimately, when collecting a point in the field and you open the "Collect the GPS Coordinates" your custom base map you have published on AGOL is displayed?

Hi Jason,

It is possible to use a custom basemap with your survey, but it must be manually associated with the survey. You can add it by referencing the URL in the survey’s .info file. Please review this help doc: Include a map in your survey , specifically the 3rd paragraph under the ‘Use an online map in your survey’ section.

Hope this helps,

Hi Derek.  Is it possible to use an operational layer(s) along with a custom basemap?  Or would the operational layer need to be cached into the basemap?  Thinking about a scenario where surveyors could see where they are, for example in a grid, but also see where the status of a grid changes, like collection there is complete and they can move to another.

Thanks!

Hi David,

Survey123 only supports a tiled basemap, not additional operational layers.  Reference layers could be included in the basemap, but they would not reflect any changes in updates after the tile is created.  In your example, we could include grid boundaries for map reference, but if styled by status, only the status at the time of baseman creation would be reflected.

Any suggestions on how to add the two layers (reference layer and base layer in the .info file?  Adding them both in with the "name" block makes them individual options.  How could they be combined in the file to show one option?  I do have a basemap I created in ArcGIS Online but it is saved as a webmap without a service URL.  Can the .info file reference a webmap?

Or must a tile package be used?

Thanks!

Currently, we only support 1 layer at a time- what I was speaking to was taking the 'base' and 'reference' layers and then generating one tiled map service or tpk that contained them overlaid.

OK, got it.  If we want to use an ArcGIS Online basemap with our own reference layer then this can not be done, correct (since a tiled map service can't be used to publish a service or create a tpk)?

Thanks!

Actually, Pro supports making tpks with tiled map services as sources.
