Thanks Dominik, That helps to clarify some of the differences.
What I'm most interested at the moment is creating a tool to do Ecosystem Services Assessments of project sites. We have a list of Landscape metrics that we track such as vegetation cover, tree canopy, farmland, wetlands etc (these are in GIS layers). As we develop land we want project teams to: 1.Delineate a site boundary and get a report of what natural assets are on that site (clip and extract from our GIS layers) 2. Draw in the planned development (building/parking lot/whatever) and see how much impact they have on those numbers (not sure if they could upload a CAD or shapefile). 3. Adjust the planned development scope to see changes to the landscape metrics with the goal of lessening the impact and pushing for new design efforts to increase ecosystem services at sites (green roofs, taking up less area of a site with maybe a higher building, using other green infrastructure tactics).
It sounds like this may be better suited for GeoPlanner or a stand alone web application. Do you have any thoughts?
Thanks again and happy to chat privately if necessary,
