I'm looking for something that seems would already be available:
A simple widget that opens a pre-determined HTML or text box.
I'm NOT talking the 'About' splash screen.

Essentially i am 'taking away' the ID tool from the Header in leu of pop-ups and i want to inform the user that the tool is no longer
needed and just click on a feature.

i know i could just remove it. but i will get calls. If i could leave the ID button there and just have a simple text box pop up informing
the user to just click on a feature instead i anticipate removing the button in a few months. It's about change mitigation.

With the amazing user base that we have for the flex viewer, i assume this tool is already created somewhere or it's rolled into basic
functionality. What am i missing?

Would the "links" widget in the Layout tab be what you are referencing?

Micah,

You could use the splash widget but reference it as you would a normal widget not by using the <splashpage> tag.

Great idea. It works well the first time and I can even add more HTML in the .XML file. However after trying to close the box and subsequent clicking on the widget button, there seems to be a problem and the 'highlighted line' underneath the widget button never quite goes away. See Screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/C9UTutFtrq
So it only works once.
