Creating GIS Apps in MVS2010/12

Good Day,

I have installed on my PC Microsoft Visual Studio 2010/12 and would like to start developing new Windows/Web application for GIS use. I am not sure where to start here. Can someone assist me with a step-to-step guide on installing ArcObjects, and is it necessary to purchase ArcMap before I can install the ArcObjects?

Also, is there any website dedicated towards creating and making available some tutorials just to start-up the different projects I would like to start on.

I would kindly appreciate this as I am an aspiring programmer, and would like to get a feel of this and obviously become an asset at my workplace.

Not applicable
Before installing ArcObjects, you will need at least one of the following: ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, ArcGIS for Server depending on the purpose of the custom application.
