ArcMap crashed when Check-Out Data

I am currently using ArcMap 10.0 with ArcPad 10 and starting to having issues. When I click on "Get Data for ArcPad" from the ArcPad Manager toolbar, the dialog box does not come up and ArcMap crashes right away. The tools in ArcToolbox also will not work.
Any ideas?

Possible issue that may cause the crash is some form of data corruption or validation issue.  To help determine if this is data specific or software related, please use these common troubleshooting steps to determine your scenario.

1 - Use Riverside sample project with Get Data For ArcPad tool, does the Riverside sample also crash ArcMap during this test or is it only with your data (\Users\Public\Documents\ArcPad\Samples\Riverside folder)?

2 - If ArcMap crashes with Riverside sample project as well, have you tried Repair Install of ArcPad?  If ArcMap still crashes after running Repair Install, then I recommend you submit this issue with Esri Support so that you can work with an ArcPad specialist to further troubleshoot the issue.

3 - If only occuring with your data, have you tried running Check Geometry and Repair Geometry tools on each layer in the MXD (ArcToolbox > Data Management Toolbox > Features toolset)?  What are the results?  I recommend running Repair Geometry on layers without geometry errors as well.

4 - If only occuring with your data, have you used Validate Features tool via Editor toolbar to check whether attributes and relationships are valid?  Validate Features tool gives you opportunity to fix any issues that violate the rules of your geodatabase.

If after following these suggestions you are still unable to determine the cause and ArcMap is still crashing during Get Data For ArcPad process, please log your support issue with Esri Support.
