I recently purchased a Trimble GeoXT 2005 Series GPS to aid in laying out boring locations.  The unit came with Arcpad 10 installed.

The process of entering waypoints in typical handheld gps units was quite simple.  Can someone help me with entering a waypoint (lat and long) for a point in Arcpad.  Am I able to convert a kml file with points from Google Earth to a Shapefile and then add the Shapefile as a layer with the ability to Go To that waypoint?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hola Joe,

This is Juan of Support Services. If you have ArcMap on your desktop, you can convert the kml file to a shapefile. You are able to use the tool below, to convert the kml within ArcMap to a shapefile. Then within ArcPad you are able to add directly the shapefile, since this a native data format which ArcPad will read directly.

Gracias, Joe!
