Esri Community’s Tools & Tips series provides a power-packed serving of “How-To” every month. These micro-sized guides make it easy to level up your platform knowledge and get more out of Esri Community.

The value: Esri Community is equipped with an automated spam filter, but it can’t catch everything that doesn’t belong. By reporting content that breaches the Esri Community Guidelines, members collectively serve as a backup filter—preserving the useful nature of content being shared and helping maintain the character of this platform as respectful, relevant, and productive for all.

How to do it: When viewing a post with inappropriate content, select the ‘Post Options’ dropdown menu to the right of the author’s username. Choose ‘Report as Inappropriate Content’ from the list. Enter a reason for reporting the post and submit it by clicking the blue ‘Notify Moderator’ button.

Process for reporting a post as inappropriate

Keep in mind: While spam identified by the Community’s automated filter is quarantined pending review, reporting a post as inappropriate does not automatically remove it from Esri Community. Instead, an email notification is sent to Esri Community team members, triggering a review of the content and further action based on the review’s conclusion. Learn more.
