Hi all! I just went through a very similar situation as is described in this blog. I also thought I had to hold back the SQL database to version SQL Server 2019. But the IT person I work with suggested going to SQL Server 2022 but turning on compatibility level on the SQL database to version 2019. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/statements/alter-database-transact-sql-compatibility-lev... We tested it and it's working great! We're using ArcMap 10.8.x with SQL Server 2022 - compatibility level set to SQL Server 2019. Hope this can help someone else also.
