When adding a new feature to a feature class, I would like to know how I can automatically update an attribute field for that feature (eg CustomID) with a value 1 higher than the highest value already in that field? ie similar to autonumber in MS Access.
The attribute is a text data type (eg. AB1234, AB1235, AB1236)
I'm using ArcGIS 10.
