We are currently looking into the possibility of installing ArcSDE connecting to our current Oracle 10.2 db. Ultimately we would like to develop some mobile and web applications with editing functionality.

Question is that we may use Windows Virtual Server 2008 to house ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE. Just wondering if anyone out there has run similar configurations and if so, any info would be great. ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE are relatively new to me so I apologize for the lack of details.

If your current 10gR2 instance is at least 10.2.0.3, it's likely that ArcSDE will function with it.

Virtual hosting is okay for development (well, for small teams) and test (ditto), but it is not
recommended for production use with databases, ArcSDE, or ArcGIS server.

Thanks for the info.

We hope to deploy a couple of web and mobile applications with total of 20-30 consumers and a few editors. So it would be a relatively small deployment.

Oracle DB which is used for production would be on in house server which would connect to the virtual via SDE.

See any issues?
