Hi,

I'm not sure that this is the correct forum for this, but I guess that I'll find out.

I'm attempting to symbolize data from an external system (via custom data feed) using the MIL-STD-2525C symbology. I follow the steps outlined here, but my features show as unknown symbology.

I have a field with symbol codes that match the MIL-STD-2525C dictionary keys in the .stylx file, for example: S-G-UCAW--, so I'm wondering whether there needs to be mappings to several fields on each feature to complete the symbol mapping. Does anyone have experience with this?

My mapping settings can be seen below. I've tried to change the 'type' field under 'Text Fields' to my symbolCode field instead, but this didn't help.

Hello @DarrenSmith - under Symbology Fields map the sidc dictionary field to the field containing the symbol code. In the screenshot below, you can see I just mapped my symbolCode field to sidc and the symbol draws in the map. When your data has an sidc (symbol id code) you can use just that field to drive the dictionary symbols.

Great! Thanks a bunch Megan! I guess I should have perhaps figured that out for myself.

No problem, Darren! FYI- this page is a good resource to have on hand when working with military symbology: https://esriurl.com/milsymstory
