File Geodatabase API Performance

Hi,

Is the file geodatabase API going to have better performance than using ArcObjects?  The classic example would be is iterating through features in a FGDB Feature Class going to be faster using the API than enumerating through using IFeatureCursor?

If so any indications how much faster?

any esri developer or someone who has used the api can answer?

is a key element to evaluate when deciding whether to use the api or not.
