Overview:

Job Title:  Geospatial (GIS) Systems Engineer

Job Location:  Remote, US

Due to the nature of the work and US Government required, US Citizenship is required.

Job Responsibilities:

The Geospatial Systems Engineer is responsible for the All Partners Access Network (APAN) ArcGIS systems and architecture. Duties include the effective installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise-level GIS applications, software, and databases. Perform duties as APAN’s ArcGIS subject matter expert and technical lead for all ArcGIS for server configurations, troubleshooting, and optimization of GIS server(s) performance in an enterprise systems environment. The Geospatial Systems Engineer will provide direct oversight for GIS systems architecture, administration, and software with a strong emphasis on geospatial (GIS) technology function and performance. 

Daily Job Responsibilities: 

  • Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, & performance-tune ArcGIS for Server-based Enterprise GIS Solutions 
  • Demonstrate expertise in managing IT systems that facilitate operational geospatial data processing and dissemination 
  • Participate in GIS design and troubleshooting discussions with clients and teammates via in-person meetings, site visits, phone calls, and video conference sessions  
  • Isolate and resolve complex hardware and software problems involving applications, the operating system, hardware, networks, or any combination thereof  
  • Install, connect, configure, troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on systems and networks  
  • Perform GIS server security patching and system upgrades  
  • Demonstrate expertise in preparing performance testing results, technical reports, and other publications (briefs, design docs, process docs)  
  • Apply experience in communicating and coordinating effectively with a variety of team members & stakeholders  
  • Maintain the testing and failover virtualized networks, and disaster recovery plan for all GIS related products/data/servers  
  • Apply experience with cloud-based GIS systems architecture and administration (AWS or Azure)  
  • Apply experience with GIS systems utilizing AWS DynamoDB 
  • Perform other duties as required. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eight years direct experience, in the last ten years. 
  • DOD IAT Level II certification 
  • Due to the nature of the work and US Government requirements, US Citizenship is required. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Geospatial scripting using, but not limited to, ESRI ArcGIS for Server, SQL Server, Geocache. 
  • Work in a high-performance environment using Agile Software Development processes. 
  • Ability to work well in either a team environment or independently 

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Network Engineering, Math). With at least 15 years of general experience of which 12 years is directly related experience, a degree is not required.
