This seems like a rudimentary topic but I'm not finding much. I'm looking for a way to generate a report by interrogating our geodatabases report simple metrics (number of feature classes by type, number of features in each feature class, number of tables, number of records in each table, etc...). I don't see any native tools that accomplish this sort of recap. We could create our own SQL queries, but I though I'd inquire here first.
I'd like to keep track of this information as a general communication piece about what exactly my team does. We've been mindfully practicing theAdam Carnow mantra of GIS <> MAP and teaching ourselves to respond that we help people make better decisions by understanding the importance of location! If I had simple metrics like a general report of the databases we maintain, we could add to the mantra things like "we manage well over a million records of location information", etc...
Thanks for any input. I'm sure it's relatively simple. My thinking cap isn't on very well today!
