Hi,

I downloaded a FDGC standard .style file with specific geology symbols to be used on a map I am creating. However, when I add it to my styles like in style manager, it clearly isnt the right symbols. Instead I end up with random generic symbols (screenshot is attached). I havent had issues adding ESRI styles before and they all continue to work fine.

I am using ArcDIS 10.3.1. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dillon,

I just figured this out, you need to install the fonts that come with the dot-style file. they are the "FGDCGeoSym01.ttf" thru "FGDCGeoSym05.ttf". See Screen shot. For Windows 7 use the font manager, just search the control panel or start button for it. For Windows 8.1 I discovered (the hard way!) that you just drag and drop them into the Fonts folder in the control panel.

Hope this helps!

Chris
