Is there a way to use the editor explode operation to split a multipolygon into polygons?

I have a shapefile with very large multipolygons, >500K points, that contain many simpler polygons that could be split out for simpler processing.

This can be done in an ArcGIS editor session using the 'explode' advanced editing operation but this is tedious for many features.

The geoprocessing tool equivalent is Multipart to Singlepart. If that's not what you're after, please elaborate.

Just FYI, you can select multiple features to 'explode'.

Thank you for the quick reply.

The geoprocessing tool in ArcToolbox was exactly what I was looking for and worked like a charm.

Looking in the Features folder also made me aware of the Repair and Dice tools which were necessary to resolve the problem.
