lt clearway.jpgOur first GUiCE Monthly Member Spotlight is Lisa Tunnell. Lisa comes from a Software Development background and began working in GIS in 2007 building custom scripts for ArcView 3.1.  With the roll-out of ArcGIS Server, Lisa soon expanded her skillset to deploying software and configuring GIS servers for large organizations, including Barrick Gold, the BLM, USGS, and more.  Lisa brought her expertise to the Renewable Energy Industry over 12 years ago and is currently the GIS Manager of Clearway Energy Group where she has been working to build and grow the GIS department for the company.

Among her geospatial accolades is the 2009 Esri Mobile Code Challenge which she won with her Environmental Compliance Field Application. She is constantly continuing her education learning new geospatial tools and methods. Lisa has a passion for sustainability and is excited to be able to use her expertise in an industry in which she believes. When asked what her favorite GIS tip or trick is she said:

“In ArcGIS Online, I love that I can create custom searches in Map Viewer for my users. In the renewable field, being able to search for substations and Parcel IDs or Landowners is crucial. And in Pro, using the Send to Python Window from the geoprocessing window can really help with finding the code needed to spin up our own Python scripts.  This saves a lot of time from searching the web and API docs!”

Lisa has previously served as a Renewables Special Interest Group Panelist at the Esri User Conference in 2022. Prior to that she presented a very well-received User Presentation at the 2021 Virtual Esri Petroleum GIS Conference (which has since rebranded as the Energy Resources GIS Conference). Lisa joins GUiCE as a Steering Committee member and will lend her expertise to the community in the role of Technology Lead.
