No two street centerline datasets are alike! Even datasets that include common roads are never digitized to the same level of precision. How do I automate the selection of roads from one dataset that ARE NOT INCLUDED in the other dataset given the following characteristics:
Centerline datasets are created by difference agencies (public and private)
There are NO common attributes
Alignment does not match for common roads
Through trial and error I've discovered that a spatial join will take all day long and not produce a correct final product, even for a small subset of the data.
I've also tried select by location, roads that intersect, which produced far too many roads. The intent was then to choose switch-selection to those that did not intersect.
As well as select by location, roads that are identical, which produced far too few roads.
