When trying to add a Basemap or Layer from the Ribbon, there are no choices available in the drop down. They seem to have disappeared!

Tested on the latest 2505 build on two different networks. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Tom,

An update to ArcGIS online is not returning the expected results to ArcGIS Explorer Desktop.

As a workaround if you sign up for an ArcGIS Online account or use an existing one.

https://www.arcgis.com/home/createaccount.html

In your profile for your ArcGIS online account, set the Region to "World"

Then when using ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, also sign in using this account, and the basemaps will show up correctly.

If you set your region to United States, in the online profile, the basemaps will not appear.

All of the basemaps and ArcGIS Explorers default map can also be accessed directly from http://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?q=owner:esri_arcgisexplorer

Alternatively, go to >Add Content >GIS Services and add the ArcGIS Online REST Services URL (http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services) then choose the map background you are looking for.

Try lower-case "arcgis" in the URL.

Like this:
