All my content is gone!

I had lots of layers in My Default Map in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop but now when I run it, my content window is empty except for "Basemap (Imagery)" and is fully zoomed out with absolutely no content.

There were probably 50 layers and spatial queries in my Content window last time I checked.

I am signed into ArcGIS Online when ArcGIS loads.

Please help.  I don't know where all my layers went.

Thank you.

Jim,

ArcGIS Explorer Desktop gives you the option to save a default map.   This default map is opened on start, and is located in your user profile folder.   Typically something like C:\users\<user_name>\Documents\ArcGIS Explorer\My Default Map.nmf

If this file is moved or deleted ArcGIS Explorer will open a fresh new default map.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the clarification. I am aware of that functionality.

The problem is that the default map, which is still technically in the directory in which it has always been located, has no layers at all.

The last time I used the program there were probably 50 layers in the content window.

They are all gone now.  There is nothing.

I didn't do anything of which I am aware which could have caused this.

Where did it all go and why?

Jim

if you look / open the NMF file in a text editor or rename it to .xml and view it, is it empty or is there content?

Hi Mark,

I searched my entire hard drive and found one My Default Map.nmf in ArcGIS Explorer and one in ArcGIS Explorer/My Basemaps which was probably created yesterday when I was trying to find things and created a thumbnail.

Anyway, the content of both is the same and is this:
