Dear All,

I am new to ArcGIS.

I have two shape files for; one for land use and the other demographic data in an already defined spatial unit (e.g County) from the government agency. I have a third shape file with zones I created myself covering the same area (my own Traffic Zones).

My challenge is how I can get the demographic and land use data that are in the first two shape files into the third shape file. My zones (Traffic Zones) are smaller than the spatial units of the land use and demographic shape files.  For example, in one spatial unit we have a population of 5000. How do I get the population for my new created zones?

I will have to calculate the land area covered (in meters) by different land use activities like residential, commercial, etc. for my new created zones from the land use shape file I have from the government agency. The government land use shape file already has the various land use activities and the land area it covers in meters.

Can anyone please help me go through this challenge?
