Hello,

I am new with AGOL so bear with me.

i have successfully created a web map in AGOL. The map is intended for Senior management that don't have to play around with it. So, I'd like to know if it is possible for the map to open (in a web browser) having the Table of Contents (TOC) defaulted to the Contents (Show contents of map) instead of Legend?

I'm looking for the same thing. It's confusing to people who don't use GIS much

Hi Andrew,

I always recommend sharing an app and not a web map with users who aren't familiar with GIS. This allows you to focus the user experience on what is important to your user. YOu can easily build an app without writing code using the configurable apps or web appbuilder:

Try using the minimalist app or using URL parameters to set the correct active panel:

Use URL parameters to modify embedded maps—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS

Are you looking for the user to be able to turn layers on and off? If so, try Web Appbuilder or Basic Viewer to have a nice user experience for this functionality.
